Duplicate Splits

Hi

I have a problem with some historic data from my forerunner 405. I've got a fairly large number of activities that have duplicate splits added in and, presumably as a result, no map data is available. The extra splits all get given a lap number of 1 so on a 20 mile run I'll have 21*lap 1 and 1* every subsequent lap. The splits labelled 1 will be all be different - actually there are just 2 sets of 20 laps!?

There doesn't seem to be any consistency about which activity these duplicates have appeared on although I'm pretty sure its been on activities where I have uploaded from the device more than once (I use a default upload not selecting activities to upload).

Not sure this description makes sense but does anyone know why this has happened? Anything I can do about this?

Can you provide a link to an activity that shows this issue?

    Activities

    Hi April

    Think these are public links!?

    http://connect.garmin.com/activity/411214
    http://connect.garmin.com/splits/10603867
    http://connect.garmin.com/activity/2727373

I've got quite a few of these!

    Thanks

    That is pretty weird.

Do you have these activities in Training Center, too, or just Garmin Connect?

No, I haven't tried training centre since I upgraded to the 405 - didn't know it was compatible to be honest!

The reason I was asking was to try to isolate where the issue might be. If you are willing to install Training Center, it might help shed light on whether this is an issue with Garmin Connect or before it gets to GC.

Did you see the correct data in GC before the duplicate uploads?

    Hi,

This is a problem we see with non-gps activities, that is, activities that were either performed indoors or when the watch could not get a satellite signal.

This also explains why you don't see a map for these activities. No maps are shown if there is no gps data for an activity.

This is a known problem and we will try to address a fix some time in the future.

If you are doing outdoor runs then take care to make sure the watch has acquired a satellite signal before starting to ensure that you get a map and no duplicate laps.

We appreciate your feedback and apologize for the inconvenience.

    NRKINTHEUK08,

It looks like these particular non-GPS activities were uploaded from old history on your device. When the device reaches the trackpoint limit it starts recording over the older activities in order to capture new ones. Best to upload on a regular basis to avoid losing the details of your activities.

    Thanks guys

They were definitely GPS activities with satellites located. I think its as kk says, its older data losing the GPS info and then being updated, I've been a bit lazy with uploading & deleting - I only tend to do it when the device tells me I'm low on memory!

    Thanks again for the advice
