Can't Upload 310xt -- Tried Everything

Maybe I'm missing something, but I haven't been able to upload since the Garmin Connect site underwent the big update. I had been uploading regularly with no issues. Now, since the update, I haven't been able to upload anything since.

I have a Forerunner 310xt and am running Windows Vista with Firefox as my browser. So far, I've tried: updating to the latest ANT Agent, refreshing by internet browser cache and double checking that Garmin applications and web sites are allowed to pass through my firewall, OS and internet browser. Nothing has worked.

When I turn on my 310xt with the ANT plugged in, it connects for half a second then disconnects (it used to take a few seconds to download data). That's all that happens and no data is transferred or uploaded to Garmin Connect. I'm so frustrated. It used to work perfectly and now -- thanks to the update -- it doesn't work at all. Nice job Garmin.

Any suggestions?
  • For what it's worth, i have been having the EXACT same issue since the last update, but I have a FR305. There was a note on the site saying that there were issues since the update and figured this was the reason. A few days ago I did successfully upload two activities, but today the issue persists.

This was not an issue until the last update to Garmin Connect.

SJAYGRAY, the issue CGM55082 is having is that he cannot get the data from his unit using the Ant Agent. Since you have the 305, you likely have a different issue.

If you haven't cleared out your browser cache, I suggest you try that.

I have an update on my situation -- it's been resolved. Hopefully this can help others who might be having the same issue. When I reset my 310xt the first time, I did it according to the documentation that came with the unit. That said to hold the mode and lap buttons simultaneously. When you let go of them the unit should restart. At that point, the unit has been reset, but user profile data and custom data fields remain (so you don't have to re-enter everything and set up your unit again). This time I did another reset, but held the mode button while powering up the unit (read about this method on this site). That cleared ALL information off of my 310xt. I had to reenter all my profile info and set up custom screens again, but it's now uploading correctly.

This was the second time in three months that I've had to do a complete hard reset (the first time the unit locked up in the middle of an activity). I'm just happy to be uploading again, but also wondering if anyone knows why the unit is requiring a hard reset in the first place? I'm trying to figure out why this is happening.

I had a similar problem, and ultimately I did have to do a hard reset to get it working again. My problem occurred twice while using the Auto Multi Sport during 2 TRIS. Both times, it hung up part way through the races, so I managed to get it shut off and back on again. In the process of doing that I freaked out the 310 and it would not allow me to upload the data (not a happy girl to lose my race info) when I got home. I have used it in several races since and not had a problem so not sure why it hung up the first 2 times other than my unit firmware has been updated since then.

    Also can't upload

I also can't upload my last two training sessions. They transfer into the usb stick but then I get an error sending the data to garmin connect, it keeps saying server error. How to get the info from the usb into the website?

previous training sessions no problem, last one on Aug 31 worked fine, nothing working since then despite no change in what I'm doing
  • Can you load them into Garmin Training Centre? I'd strongly recommend to you, and others experiencing uploading problems to Garmin Connect to load them into GTC.
Despite being a commited SportTracks user for the past 3 years, I've always opted to load the activities into GTC. Just in case.
Now, with the 310 and ANT Agent I have the options to send to both GC and GTC selected. Just in case.
You'll see in other posts about checking for bad fit files and also where the files are located. Chances are the activities are saved on your hard drive waiting to be uploaded.

Temporarily you might try the manual upload April mentions earlier in the thread to see if the problem lies with one or more of your activities (not clear if you've tried that already).

You rock, I tried everything too. The hard reset is the only way to get this to work. Sucks to lose all your data but finally, I can download data. Thanks for posting.
