Firmware upgrade problem

Former Member
Former Member
I was advised on the Garmin Connect homepage to upgrade the firmware for my 405 from 2.3 to 2.5.

Now my device displays a permanent message saying "LOADER LOADING..."

This has been the same for several hours now - I thought the upgrade should take about 15 mins.

Can anybody help please ?
  • Windows or Mac? Are you using the latest version of the ANT Agent? One of the fixes was "Fixed issue with updating firmware on Forerunner 405."

Thanks for this. I wasn't on the latest version of the Ant Agent software but have now downloaded this. Am still waiting for progress - looks as though the USB stick is trying to transfer the data to the 405 but the device is still showing "Loader loading".

Seems to be stuck in a loop or working very slowly.

    Reset and try again

I had the same problem initially, even though I was using the most recent version of the ANT agent.

I held the two buttons down on the forerunner 405 until it reset, and then tried a second time to download the firmware upgrade. That time it went through the process as predicted, but it was more like 10 and 25 minutes for the two steps.

I'm on a mac, but hopefully you have the same success.
