gpx file error

Hi there I'm trying to upload the GPT (Greater Patagonia Trail) GPX file into Garmin connect (web), but it throws and error every time. I then downloaded a generic gpx file from the web and the same error appears. Then I tried to upload the gpx file directly from the connect app on my phone, and there only the very first leg (2 miles out of about 1500 miles !!) shows up under courses!! Any help to solve this would be greatly appreciated!

What is the message? Are you using the course import function from here -

I did a test using plotaroute.com - Greater Patagonia Trail 10 - 131km Walking Route

It imported with no issues.

Yes I'm using the Import button. THe error is: . I've tried a generic gpx file as well as trhee others always the same error!

What is the source of the GPX file? A specific website? Can you attach your GPX file to your post?

Yes, something wrong with the file. Fells Loop? I ran it through Garmin Basecamp and it looks like a 7-mile loop in Boston?

I don't think it's the file since I tried yours as well and it did not work! See previous post above - the error appears with YOUR file!

I am not a GPX expert, but I see that your file was exported as a route (containing routepoints, "rtept" tags), while Garmin's native Course files are saved as tracks (containing trackpoints / "trkpt"). Both of them are valid GPX files, and I do not know why your file fails to import, but it is relatively easy to fix it:

Open the GPX file with a simple text editor such as Notepad
Replace all occurrences of the string "rte" with "trk"
Insert a <trkseg> tag above the first <trkpt ...> tag
Insert a </trkseg> under the last </trkpt> tag

In doubts, have a look at the attached file, where I already did it: fells_loop.zip
If you unzip it, it imports fine, without errors (forum playing games with me again, and not allowing me to upload *.gpx files, hence I had to zip it).

Yes, but I'm curious how this is a dog park in Boston. Was expecting an epic trail adventure in Chile.
