Problem uploading

I have just come back from a trip abroad with my 310 XT full of files to download and I keep getting a message in the ANT dialog box saying there is a problem with the server. It seems to download the files - there is a progress bar which gets to 100% but the files don't appear in Garmin Connect. Any ideas???

    Same here...

Four days ago, Garmin Connect was working just fine. Ever since they have begun upgrading I have been having problems also.

    Upload Problems

I, too, am having problems uploading runs. I uploaded my run from the 27th (today), and it registered as an Activity on the 25th. Go figure. Additionally, the GPS location at the start has me jumping all over the place, then it settles down. I am unable to find the "added feature" location that is supposed to be there. I don't even see an empty field for it.

Does anyone at Garmin test this software before they release it on their unsuspecting customers?

Hello Peter, you'll find the location option under the activities tab. You'll need to hover over one of the column headings until an arrow appears, click on that, you'll then see a columns box appear, and from there you can specify which columns will appear in that view. Not all your activities will have locations yet, but as I understand it, will eventually.

As for your problematic activity from the 27th, it actually sounds like there could be a problem with the recording of that activity. If you attach a copy here, perhaps someone can take a look and/or repair it. It is a good practice, however, to make sure you reset your unit after the completion of each activity and make sure your unit gets a solid GPS lock before starting an activity (which is a likely cause for the track jumping around to start).

Hi Kansaiben - Here is a link to the Activity that is recording the wrong date
    http://connect.garmin.com/activity/11947712
I know I did this Activity on the 27th (I was there). I can see that my FR405CX is displaying the date correctly as the 27th. When I look at HISTORY > ACTIVITIES the top (last) Activity is this one, and it is stored as happening on the 25th. There are a couple of "bogus" Laps at the start of the Activity that have me jumping all over the place. I don't know what that's about, either.

Brilliant. I can see a bunch of developers sitting around talking about it. "Let's put in a data field and make it so that the only way anyone can find it is if they happen to leave their cursor hanging over a column heading, and then, let's make it so the data only shows up in the Activities list and no where else." Brilliant. By the way, once someone does manage to find it, it is BLANK. No data there, no location, just blank.

Not debating whether you did this activity on the 25th or the 27th. Obviously you know when you did the activity. ;) Trying to figure out WHY you've got the two bogus laps from the 25th in your file. Worth noting that the problem with this file isn't likely related to GC but how your unit recorded the activity.

This often happens when you accidentally forget to clear out a previous session before starting a new one. To prevent this I've simply gotten in the habit of resetting my units prior to starting a new activity. Works pretty well. It is possible, however, that sometimes some data corruption occurs on the unit and causes activities like this. If this is the case it's recommended that you perform a hard reset to clear out the gremlins. I'd probably just see if this happens again before doing the hard reset as you'll have to set up all your prefs again and I don't like doing that. Also, make sure before you start that you've gotten a solid lock on satellites as this makes sure your clock is correct and makes sure you get a solid track recorded.

In the meantime, I've cleaned out the two bum laps of your file. Give this file a shot and see if it works out better for you.

As far as the locations go, i did mention that most if not all your activities won't have a location associated with them yet. It's been posted here in the forum that once the location feature was added that it would be populated for previous activities after a time. Don't disagree it's hard to find now though, but I suspect that now that the feature has been added that it will make it's way into more displays. Just need a little patience there.

    Kansaiben,

Would you take a look at the issue we seem to be having uploading our activities? The ant stick window indicates that there is an error with the server. I have posted several comments and no one has responded yet. I would appreciate some feedback, I just purchase this watch at no small cost and am quickly getting frustrated with the service. Thanks so much for your help.
  • Happy to try and help where I can, but I don't believe all of the posts in this thread are related. So best to address your problem specifically and if I can't help you'll want to end up contacting support (https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?t=503). Also, a word of warning, I'm off to bed soon so may not be able to complete our conversation until tomorrow (I don't actually work for Garmin, just a volunteer, and my real job requires some time away from the forum ;)). So, disclaimer aside, can you answer a few questions to start? What version of the ANT agent are you using, on what OS, what unit do you have, and what version of the firmware? Have you successfully uploaded before or at least paired your unit? Any antivirus/firewall that could be effecting your uploads? And have you tried manual uploads as an alternative?

I am using ANT agent 2.2.7
    OS is Vista
    310XT
    Latest version
I have uploaded a dozen or so files before succesfully but not since 25th Aug
I have managed to get the files into TrainingPeaks software and they seem fine.
Would still like to upload them to GC though
Error message at end of download with ANT is Error with server

I understand. I see there is now a new announcement on the front page stating that they are working on the upload issues. But just in case you might have a suggestion...Just bought my FR 405 two weeks ago. Ant agent 2.2.7 is what I downloaded. I use Windows and had no problems uploading runs and bike rides until Wednesday of this week. After the updates to the system were made, I was no longer able to upload. I have tried "forced send" also if that is what you mean by manual upload. Thanks for any feedback.

    regards,
    David
