Development Team are you reading these requests?

Is anyone from the Garmin development team reading these feature request postings??
I would guess not judging from the latest update! If you read the postings in this forum for feature requests top of the discussion are not:
  • Calendar view,
  • tracking health,
  • assigning location automatically and
  • bulk delete

You did get it right with the manual activity entry but other than that just a cursory browse of the forum by the Garmin staff would show that these are the things people are screaming for:
  • More accurate elevation correction
  • Pace and Speed optional views
  • Moving time
  • Weather data
  • User defined splits (post activity)
  • Ability to edit incorrect data points

Please don't ignore your customers we only want the Garmin connect site to be the best!!

Actually, I find the calendar view and bulk delete very, very helpful. Calendar view lets me see my dedication (or lack thereof! :o) in one glance. Bulk delete allows me to clean out my duplicate and extraneous activities in larger chunks (to make the calendar view and reports more meaningful!).

Weight Tracking and Location were also requests.

One thing to remember is that this forum is not the only avenue by which Garmin gets requests.

I do look forward to the next iteration to see what else is in store.

  • Voting system?

How about giving the Garmin Connect users a way of voting for the features most important to them?

Garmin does not have to implement features/fixes in the exact same order, but at least it would be a good way to check what users want.

I like the new features, but for me "Health" is not as important as pace/speed, elevation/speed correction and weather.

    .

    I Like that Idea,

I saw on other forum a mechanisms where each user is givin 10 points that he/she can spend on whatever he feels is the most important features to be implemented.
It gives weight not to the biggest posters, but the real overall whishes of the community.

    example (Western Digital WDTV) :

Thanks for the suggestions, we'll consider the poll option. In the meantime, please know that the speed/pace and weather issues are being addressed.

  • Would be nice to be able to have a way to measure in on what gets implemented and in what order as there are a number of features I'd like to see sooner than later. That said, I do recall Garmin did have a customer survey back when MB was taken over where users were asked to measure in on a variety of features from data mining and reporting to community aspects and interface design. The emphasis of my responses were more directed towards the data analysis/correction but I'm not aware if my thoughts echoed the majority.

Some features have been implemented that I wanted and actually were lacking in MB--the support for non-GPS/indoor activities and manual activities was a long time coming--while others that I had in MB are still missing in GC or are new wants created by GC (elevation correction, weather tracking, and saved reports come to mind). Imagine it is a difficult balancing act trying to please a range of users--from those more excited by community aspects or interface design to those more concerned with the nerdy data analysis/management side of things (this is me)--my hope is the GC developers will be able to please everyone (but selfishly I'm wanting the next update to focus more heavily on the data side of things).

So if I've only got 10 points to spend, guess I'd put them on a few of the OP's list but swap in a few of my own.

    • More accurate elevation correction (as a forerunner user this gets 2 points)
    • More Customizable/save-able reports (this is a big want so this gets 2 too)
    • User defined splits (post activity)
    • Ability to edit incorrect data points
    • Weather data
    • Ability to compare 2/multiple activities
    • Equipment tracking (could be included in 2)
    • More robust search capabilities
  • Some features have been implemented that I wanted and actually were lacking in MB--the support for non-GPS/indoor activities and manual activities was a long time coming--
    [/LIST]

This is great news as I should like to upload non gps gym cardio work.

Today I did 4K on an elliptical trainer, I have just tried to upload this non-gps activity. It was read from my FR305, but seems stuck at the upload.

Is this because the site is still recovering from its remedial work or cannot it yet upload these activities?

Would I then be able to manually add the distance to my time splits?

  • I am amazed at the tone of some of the postings here. Individuals post their own preferences and howl when their own priorities are shared by development and executed to their taste. I for one am enjoying the evolution of GC. Don't like it; don't use it. It didn't cost you a penny.

    STEVEKN,

You can add the indoor activity using the Manual Activity feature.

What I would really like is to be able to add a manual activity, but not be forced to use the units of miles only. When I swim, I think in terms of yards or meters, not miles.

    Hi DW152,

That will be addressed in a future release. Apologies to the swimmers! :o

    All others,

We did offer up a Road Map Survey a few years back when we were still under the MotionBased banner. We took the suggestions to heart and many of the features you see today are a direct result of the data we received from the survey. JASLA, as Devon already stated, many of your concerns and others are being addressed.
