Does Virtual cycling count towards challenges

Using ROUVY and Zwift. They sync to my Garmin connect but do not appear in the count for the challenges.

Going out is not necessary at all. You just have to record the cycling with your device (or with the Tacx app)…

  • Virtual Rides count, but they must come frrom a Garmin device and IMO I doubt if Garmin will ever accept Zwift rides.

Look at Garmin's rules for badges and challenges for more indepth info.

  • They will count providing the ride is at least 20 minutes long if I’m not mistaken

  • As 4411990 wrote - the activity must come from a Garmin device, or be recorded by the Tacx Training app (also Garmin). Generally, activities imported from 3rd parties never count towards badges and chalenges.

  • Thanks for the help - there goes my December Cycling badges - no way im getting out in the cold and dark ( & sometimes Snow & Ice)

Going out is not necessary at all. You just have to record the cycling with your device (or with the Tacx app), and that can be done indoors too.

  • If you actually have a Garmin device, you can export the activity as a tcx file in Garmin, edit it and add the “creator” section at the end (before the </activity> tag). Simply copy this from another activity that was recorded with the Garmin device. Then GC sees that it was a Garmin device and recognizes time/km/... also for challenges. Just tested with an activity from ROUVY. Tedious, but it works. Of course, you then delete the original unit. You may have to adjust the date/time if you rode in a different time zone in ROUVY. This seems to be falsified by export/import.
