Garmin 310XT. Stop and Resume an Activity?

Kind of a simple question, but I don't want to lose data so I'l ask before I try it. I just got a 310XT and managed to get it all set up.*

QUESTION:
I cycle to work so there is one activity in the AM and then one more in the PM. I want to upload ONE activity, not two.

On my 205 I could just hit STOP when I got to work and turn it off. Then 9 hours later when I turned it on, there was the activity and then all I had to do was hit START to resume the activity (my ride home).

Will the 310 do that? I can't combine activities any longer (good bye MB) so I need to do something ....but I'm not sure what it is.

* I screwed up and just plugged in the ANT stick before installing the software. Oops. what a mess. OK, I didn't read the warning label...who's perfect. After a loooong wait, the guy at Garmin's tech suport was extraordinarily helpful in walking me through the very complex fix. I guess I should read instructions first. :D

GC upload makes 310XT activity "reset"

Hmmm. Uploading to TC works and the activity stays open on the 310XT so you can resume it later. The memoent you upload the acticity to GC, it gets closed on the 310XT so you cannot resume it later.

I commute to work so that is why I'd like to upload the ride to work as one activity and then the entire from/to ride later.

    ??

  • Uploading to TC will also reset the timer on the 310. Anytime the 310 connects to the ANT Agent to download an activity the timer will be reset. If you want to stop the timer, and resume the activity later, you will need to wait until you are finished with the second portion to upload it.
