Set As PR Not An Option

Dear Garmin, When we buy a new watch, we do not want to have to reset all our PRs. I have 18 years of data in Garmin Connect; there's no reason I should have to tell Garmin Connect what my PRs are. That being said, trying to reset my Longest Swim PR in Garmin Connect. In previous posts, the fix was to change it from open water swim to simply swimming as for some unfathomable reason, it doesn't recognize OWS. Tried that, and Set As PR is still grayed out and not an option. If anyone else has another fix, I would be very appreciative. Thank you!

  • Dear Garmin,

Sorry, I am not from Garmin, and I am afraid your chances to be seen by anyone from Garmin, here on the user forum, are very slim

When we buy a new watch, we do not want to have to reset all our PRs.

As long as you use the same Garmin Connect account, no PRs are reset or removed when adding a new watch. If you want to transfer your previous records made with other devices, to the new watch, click the button "Send to Device"

If by "reset" you mean deleting it, then simply click the Bin icon near the PR.

If you rather mean "set" to some new value at an OW swim, then first of all you need a watch supporting the Swim PRs (not all Garmin watches do), and then it has to be indeed a pool swim (PRs at OW Swim are not used, since the conditions vary greatly, depending on the currents, waves, and weather). And since records are detected by the watch, not by Garmin Connect, you'd have to log your OW swim with the Pool Swim activity profile, if you wanted to have it detected automatically - though in such case, the distance accuracy won't be anywhere near accurate.

As long as the watch used to log the OW Swim supports Swim PRs, when you change the activity type from OW Swim to Pool Swim (not the general Swimming!), the "Set as PR" option is available. Though as I wrote, the Swim PRs were not designed for the OW swimming, so you'd bee actually cheating in doing that.
