Certain workouts get stuck on the watch

Garmin FR 405.

I lost a month of workouts from when I was abroad and returned and they would not load. They were still in the watch, but I couldn't get the data out. If I put it on Force Send it goes through the Receiving Runs 0-100%, switches to Receiving Runs and immeadiately dies.

This was annoying as I lost my results for the NYC Tri and the training leading up to it. But Garmin support told me it was just a bit of bad data stopping the transfer like an elevation spikeand there was nothing they could do about it.

Now it has happened again on a almost completely flat course (race around a rowing lake). I set a 5k PB. The data loaded to Training Centre but I can't get it to load to Garmin Connect. I go through exactly the same issues when I try a Force Send.

Help !!!
  • I assume you have a FR 305. The device will only hold about 13,000 trackpoints for activity storage. As you increase the number of activities, as the trackpoint storage is exhausted, tracks will be removed from the oldest activity to make room for new activities. Hence, after being away for some time, you will find all that remains of older activities is the summary data for the activity and its laps.

As for the recent activity that you have on Training Center. Can you export the one activity and try to upload to Connect manually?

    Fr405

Actually it is a Forerunner 405.
The activity is the most recent.
Accordinlgy it can't be because old ones get bumped when the memory space is used up.

    Some success

In attempting to download file from TC and then upload to GC I tried the "Upload" button on GC and then "Upload from a list". My recent activity (the Nottingham race) was there in three files. Selected them and they uploaded immediately.

My hopes were high and I went back to the "Upload from a list" option to see if I could recover the NYC Tri files this way too. Unfortunately the list only goes back one month to 1 aug and I can't see how to get back to 26 Jul.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

The older data is likely gone for the reason SAEEDI posted. It applies to a 405 as well. You could do a Force Send again, but if it's failing on corrupt data, you likely have lost that data.

I would do a hard reset to clear out the bad data so you don't have problems with that data in the future.
