Newbie question: what is the deal with the total distance in the player?

Looking at the player for a 15 mile bike ride.... the total distance only goes up about halfway... it's showing 2 miles of total distance at about the 6 mile mark... what is the deal? This is consistent across all my activities.

I just played it through and it worked fine all the way through. Perhaps it was something to do with your download speed.

based on the track of the activity you posted, the GPS signal looks pretty spotty at best. The 301 had some challenges with heavy tree cover improved substantially in later models, but you can improve your results by ensuring you've got as solid a GPS lock as possible before starting your activity. What kind of accuracy is shown on the unit and what are the totals your device is reporting?

EDIT: Never mind the part about what your unit reports, I can see in the splits page the answer to that. Seems then to indicate a problem with the trackpoints then. Does the track on the map look even close to what you are riding?
