Detail Missing from Today's Activity

I've just become an owner of a 405HR, and I have the same problem as many other people it seems.
Not only do I get "No map data found for this activity. "
Also the timing and heartrate graphs are empty.
As there is no map data it seems, I first wondered that I did not use the gps function on the watch correctly (wich is "on" ofcourse), but this seems strange as the distance I ran is correctly stated.
This problem occurred on both runs I did using the watch so far...
Clearing cache does not help...

Any help is highly appreciated!

SCDEBASE, since you're a new owner and the activity you uploaded is from today, then it's possible you might have a different issue.

Do you use Training Center in addition to Garmin Connect? If so, can you see the map and graphs there?

If you are using Windows, you can check for the TCX file created by Ant Agent in the following locations:

    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data\GARMIN\Devices\{device_id}\History

    Windows VISTA: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\GARMIN\Devices\[device ID]\History

For all windows users you will need to set your folders up to show hidden files (which are hidden by default) to see the application data folders.

If there are files in the History folder, try uploading those manually or attach them to a message here on the forums for somebody to take a look.

Thank you Ndurancerider for your interest, I've added today's excercise file in an attachment
The graphs don't show up in Garmin Training centre...

If the detail is also missing from Training Center, it seems something got lost in the translation.

What version of Ant Agent do you have?

At this point, I don't have much to suggest except a hard reset that would set your unit back to factory settings and then try again. Or maybe try on a different computer?

If you really want to get the detail from those two activities on your watch, you might want to contact Garmin Support and see what they suggest.

I've tried installing on a different computer, the problem stays the same.
Weird thing is, that if I start-stop my watch here in the house let it run for 40 seconds, and I transmit the data, that I can see the map, and the heart rate data as well!...
Maybe the track where I went running today is haunted? There are hardly any trees or buildings around...?

My guess is that while the GPS was enabled on your device, you didn't have a lock on satellites prior to pressing Start. Oftentimes you will only lose a little portion from the beginning of the activity. This could be a case where your device never got a good lock on the satellites so it didn't record that information. Make sure to get a good lock on satellites prior to pressing Start.

The fact that summary information is available is not surprising; the FR405 will work just like any non-GPS device, recording the data it is set up to record.

    Thanks for your replies...
Before my next run, I will sit for a few minutes on a bench before starting off to allow the satellites to lock, hope this works!
Still find it weird that on 2 different runs in the same open place this data was missing, while in a house it seems to work fine... Also, if the satellites did not lock, how did the watch know my exact running distance? Strange!
  • Same problem! What should I do?
