Etrex Vista HCx is detected, doesn't sent track

Garmin Connect looks very promising, but, alas, it doesn't download tracks from my Garmin device. It's being detected fine by the "Upload" interface, and even pretends to be reading tracks from the device, but actually nothing happens. The Etrex doesn't beep as usual, and nothing changes in the interface "reading data from device" stays one the screen of the Garmin Connect Upload interface.

I tried manually downloading the GPX and using the TCX converter utility (which is a horrible piece of bug holes) but that workaround is too complicated, and the interface thinks I own a Forerunner (the TCX utility thinks so).

Hoping for a fixed upload interface or native GPX support :(

I tried IE8, Google Chrome, Firefox 3 - none works. I am using Windows 7 and have turned off all security features of OS and Browsers.

On Garmin Connect: Etrex Vista HCx is unsupported / MotionBased uploads are broken

    According to: http://connect.garmin.com/help/faq

When will Garmin Connect support the Foretrex and other Garmin outdoor devices?

Garmin Connect will support the Garmin Outdoor product line in the second half of 2009. In the meantime, we recommend that you upload activities from those devices to MotionBased.

Great! Use MotionBased (which I already do). except for this: MotionBased no longer supports my uploads from the Vista HCx.

I get the same error as this when uploading from my eTrex Vista HCx:
    http://forums.motionbased.com/smf/index.php?PHPSESSID=6bb089ad18c93252cdab692df1643d1c&board=4;topic=13225.2#msg77492

Status "Unrecognized Format" on the Upload Status tab.

What's worse: MotionBased is no longer supported. The resolution to the error says "use Garmin Connect". The forums at MotionBased are closed.

What are the "Garmin Outdoor product line" users who have problems with MotionBased supposed to do?

I'm going to try the manual route that TRAKAIS tried, but it doesn't sound fun.

I'd be happy using MotionBased or Garmin Connect, I just want to be able to use one!

    Official Response from Garmin: :(

MotionBased does not allow upload of new data into their servers. We are making a transition of all the data from MotionBased into Garmin Connect. At this time in Garmin Connect, support for outdoor trail units aren't supported. You will not be able to upload data into Garmin Connect from your Etrex until sometime this Fall.

    Hi all,

MB does still support the uploads from your hand held devices. MB will continue to support these uploads via the Garmin Communicator Plugin until we make the final transition to Garmin Connect for these devices.

Apologies for any misinformation/miss communication on our end.

Problems Uploading from Etrex Vista Hcx to Garmin Connect!

    I have been searching the web to try and find an answer and I found this thread and hoped that someone could help, as the below questions were a few years ago now;

I have recently purchased a Garmin Etrex Vista Hcx and love it. I have had no issues with the device. The issue comes when I try to upload to Garmin Connect. The Vista is recognised and I spent hours one evening trying to upload a track when it did...........once! I don't know what I did differently to what I am doing now but I managed to upload 1 track. Now I can not! It states that the device " Etrex Vista Hcx" is connected but when I try to upload it states that there are no new activities when there are loads of tracks saved.

I use my Garmin for everything from walking to biking and running. I used to use my phone and Runkeeper ( which at this stage seems a hell of a lot easier ) but I can not even upload into that. I can manually upload but it only gives me my distance, not times.

All I want to do is to be able to upload my tracks / activities and save and send them and don't really care what or who I use if Garmin can not support this.

    HELP PLEASE!
