export to GPX

Is there a workaround to be able to export to GPX from the Connect website? If not, can this please be added to the site? The TPX format is not standard so it does not work with other apps and KML has some issues as well. Please Garmin stick with the standards!!
  • Not aware of any workaround, other than downloading as a tcx then converting to gpx. There are several free programs that will do this, such as TCX Converter.
  • Upload to RunSaturday.com. You can export from there in .gpx format. Or import into SportTracks and export from there and do the same.

    GPX format

I previously used Motion Based and the export to GPX included all relevant data including the elevation profiles. With Motion Based no longer accepting Garmin uploads, I've tried other sources such as MapMyRide which does provide a GPX export function although I've found that this does not contain the elevation data that the VR Trainer (Tacx Fortius) requires for Real Life Training courses. I'm wondering if there are any other mapping resources that would generate the full featured GPX file from the Garmin devices.

Have you tried TCX Converter? You can export out of GC as tcx file, open it in TCX Converter then save as GPX file. Just checked and the elevation is in the converted gpx file.
  • If Garmin wants me to store all my data on Garmin Connect, it must be possible to export it in standard, non-proprietary formats. Having to register at other sites, or even install software, just for simple conversions should not be necessary.

It has been posted here that GC will support gpx format at some point. Not sure when though. In the interim the 3rd party apps work quite easily and IIRC many don't require registration/installation.

Yes, but I'm afraid it will only be import, not export..
