MB rides showing up as "Untitled" name

Many (but not all) of my motionbased rides which have been ported over are showing up with many missing fields, like the NAME. My rides are showing up on GC as "Untitled", but they are titled on Motionbased. Like i said its not all of my ported rides..?? But most of them.

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/10642708 (Untitled port)

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/10132275 (ported over nicely with its name in tact)

Ive also noticed a ton of duplicated rides..??

More than 50% of my history shows up as unnamed. In addition - there appears to be no map data for any of these. I am hopeful Garmin is able to fix this during the migration process.
  • It is possible that these untitled activities were not migrated from MB, but sent to GC from your device. When activities are sent to GC from the device they are untitled until you give them a title. Also, the "no map data" problem is typical of activities on your device that were overwritten to make room for new activities, leaving only summary data. Do you maintain a lot of history on your device?

Missing Map & Graph Data & Untitled...

Yes I do keep a lot of data on my device. In fact I just purged it not that long ago, because I discovered it was out of room for new data.

What's the best known method (if there is one) for keeping enough memory free on the device, not loosing old map data, and being able to keep map and graph data in perpetuity both locally on my PC, as well as on Garmin Connect?

Upon inspection, it appears all of my local PC graph data and maps are gone prior to 8/1/2008. Is this now all gone from the local TCX file? Is there a way to archive this to later retrieve it?

    Thanks!

Not sure if this is the best method, but this is what I do. As soon as I've confirmed that I've successfully uploaded an activtiy to GC and TC, I delete all history from the device. I have no reason to keep it on the device, unless I wanted to make a course from it directly on the device, which you can do in TC anyway. This removes any chance of data being overwritten and also lowers the chance of having corrupt data that can cause other issues.

If you had been sending your activities to TC and MB on a regular basis and clearing out old history, then there should be no reason for it to be overwritten. If you waited too long and your history on the device builds up and reaches its limit, then data gets overwritten. If you wait to upload after the data is overwritten, then you're stuck with what you have. Is your data whole in MotionBased? If so, then you can happily wait until the migration completes.;)

I tend to keep a month's worth of data on my devices. On most units, there is an option to delete all but the last 30 days. I like this option as it gives me access to look at my history on the watch for a quick review of my most recent activities, but also keeps the unit memory cleaner for uploads. I also tend to upload to a couple different computers, so gives me a chance to get the data in both places.

  • Hi oh happy one,

I have just discovered that many of my migrated activities have "duplicates" with no map data, these must have been uploaded directly from my FR305 and the activities with map details migrated from MB.

It would seem that connect uploads activity data that it already has from MB, unless the migrated activity arrived after the directly loaded activity.

Is there going to be a way to delete duplicate activities that do not have map details. ie another activity of the same date and time exists WITH map data.

The safest method I assume will be to manually delete when we have the facility to delete more than one activity at a time.

Will there be an undo to the delete?

There is already a delete option found on the Details page:

    FAQ - Activity Details

We will be adding a bulk delete feature in the future. There will not be an undo/un-delete option.
