Route creation

Can I create a route on Garmin Connect and upload to the Edge 705? I have looked at the garmin connect site and can't seem to find anything but just want to make sure I'm not missing something.

If the option above is not possible, is it possible to create a route from one of the other mapping websites around and then upload the file unto garmin connect and then move it to your edge?
  • Do you mean courses? Technically, a route is different. Assuming courses, then no you cannot create a course in GC. You can send an existing activity to your device or TC as a course, but you can't create a course on GC. You can use other online course creators (BikeRouteToaster, GPSies) to draw your route (course), then either send directly to your device or send to TC, then send to your device.

    Bike routes

Don't use Bikely.com to trace your route and upload it to GC or your device, it WON'T work.
Even though you can export the KML file just fine to GOOGLE EARTH, it will not transfer to file to MB or GC - Garmin tech support states that there are too many data points.
    Even GPX file wouldn't load.
I found this out the hard way when trying to trace a 158 mile route from Baltimore to Rehobeth, DE, only to find I can;t upload the data to my device.
I then tried a 1 mile route and still would not upload.
If Google Earth can translate the route - why can't GC???
