Tag multiple users on one Activity

If I run with another Garmin Connect user I should be able to tag them as a participant and have the activity automatically add to this user name (once they accept).
  • I like the tagging users idea but not sure I'd want somebody else's fitness data (HR/cadence, etc.) associated with me. So perhaps better to simply associate the activity with yours but not actually add it to that user's account? Or have the option to simply attach summary data?

Interesting. Maybe strip the HR/cadence/power data when displaying it in another's log? Leaving the basic speed, distance, elevation, etc, that would be common to both if you stayed together for the entire activity.

April got it exactly. My thought was to have the other user receive a notice that they had an activity to accept (not automatically appear).
  • Question is from 2009 and it doesn't resolve!?

    Slight smile

  • Just tag the other person in the comment. Unless the user blocked tagging his handle in privacy settings, he/she'll be notified. If he/she really wants to use your activity, export it and pass it to him/her. Although, I do not understand why somebody with Garmin Connect (and hence having a Garmin device) would want to use your activity.

  • On shared activity there is the gear icon, click and choose save as Course, then you can download that course as GPX, which you can import. This should remove additional data, leaving just path data.

Exactly. In fact the user you tag, can then do it himself - the export as course is available to anyone having access to your activity. So no need of exporting anything on your side.

  • How does tagging work, say if someone has a very common name, like "John Smith"? I tried tagging my wife, who has a very common name, and I didn't see anything happen. She does have tagging turned on. Thank you

  • How does tagging work

It only works in Comments, not in the leading Note of an activity. In the moment you enter the @ sign, a list of your Connections appears, and you can select one of them.

  • Thank you so much! Worked perfectly. Also, people must allow tagging in their settings. Was it mentioned above? I think it was, that's how I knew to look for that too (in wife's setting)!
