  • It would be nice to be able to easily forward workouts I've created (track/interval workouts for example) to workout partners who may be doing the same workout with me.

    Yes that woud be great.
Especially to be able to share planned workouts with a group, just like one can do with courses now.:cool::cool:

Is there some way to share a complicated interval workout created in Garmin Connect with other friends that have the same device?
  • The only way that I know of requires you to run a script to harvest the activity data, and then the other user would need to run the script to upload that data to their Garmin Connect account. If you just want to clone a few workouts, you could do it this way...

You can get a list of all of your workouts and their unique ids by visiting http://connect.garmin.com/proxy/workout-service-1.0/json/workoutlist. Once you have the workout number for the workout you want to share, go to http://connect.garmin.com/proxy/workout-service-1.0/json/workout/XXXXXXX where the XXXXXXX is the workout id you looked up in the previous step. This should load a page of plain text. Share this text with your friend (via e-mail or whatever). Have them go to http://home.comcast.net/~travis.vitek/workout.html and paste the data you sent into that page. After they click submit, they will have a new workout that is the same as yours.

I know it isn't super elegant, but it is all I could whip up on short notice.

    Thanks mate.
Maybe this is something GC should look at.
Many of our Stand up paddle training squad have Garmin 910XT's and it's pretty crazy that there isn't a simple way to share a workout with the group.
I'm sure we are not alone in wanting to do this!
I'll give your suggested method a go.....might be tough for some of the computer tech challenged crew :-)
  • You could set up a group and put it in the calendar for them all to see. I can't see anyway of exporting the workouts from the calendar though.
Another way is to put the workouts into your calendar and publish that so they can share it.

Try sending the request to Garmin Support. Don't hold your breath waiting for them to action it though.

Sadly, you can't put a workout into a group calendar. :(

  • I'd like to be able to share workouts and training plans with friends from my training group, however there's no functionality. The old Training Centre software used to allow this however Garmin Connect doesn't seem to, unless I'm missing something.

Can someone advise if Garmin are planning on re-implementing this, to my mind this is a big function that's missing. Garmin seem to have difficulty providing a response on this when I contact them direct.

    Cheers

I wanted to create a training plan for a marathon, as I couldn't I used a base one from the training plans on connect and added and removed workouts to create a plan for my next marathon. I run with a group of 3-4 other runners and they want to use this plan and upload to their watches, forerunner 205/305 10, etc all various garmin watches capable of sending to device.

I shared my calendar but they can't see it in connect. if they open it in outlook or google etc the steps and pace settings and repeats don't show, all they see are the notes.

obviously creating a 16 week plan running 5 days a week 6 times is not suitable how can they share this / import it to their connect / watches.
