Lost activity detail since migrated from motionbased

My activities have been copied/migrated from the motionbased.com site to connect.garmin.com

Now some of the activities have lost their map information and elevation detail and their activity names are "Untitled". I can still view them fine at motionbased.com

I have tried deleting one of these activities from connect.garmin.com, exporting it from motionbased.com (.gpx .hst and .crs formats) and then re-uploading to connect.garmin.com but that does not appear to work as the activity fails to create.

I have a Garmin Edge 30A5 but I notice that the additional information says that the activity was recorded with a 205 - but then so do the others that work. Here's a link to a public activity that is affected in such a way:

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/10014727
http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/invitation/dashboard.mb?episodePk.pkValue=7714497

Anyone else experiencing the same / got a fix?

Please help!
  • GC will only accept .tcx files for manual uploads. The links provided by MB only allow exporting as .crs, .hst, or gpx. One solution is to download as an hst file, import into Training Center, export as tcx file, then upload to GC. The other solution is to export as a tcx file from MB by using this method.

    AdrianGibbons,

The GC activity you referenced was not migrated over from MotionBased. Rather, this is an old activity on your device that was compressed and deleted of all GPS data. MY guess is that you've not deleted your device history so when you uploaded from your device, all of the old activities, void of GPS data, were uploaded. Best to delete this and any other activities like it and wait for the migration to do its thing; do NOT upload this from another source as you'll be left with duplicates once the migration is completed.

The naming issue is a known problem. We are looking into a solution.

No, this isn't the case. The activities that I refer to had already been uploaded to motionbased.com - and they are still there with the GPS data contained within them (you can see from the link I provided).

When I uploaded activities to connect.garmin.com, I manually selected the new ones rather than having the site decide for me. I did not select the activities that I refer to - they were already showing in my activities as having been previously uploaded.

I will try the method posted in the other reply to see if I can re-upload to Garmin - when I get a chance - and I will post here if successful.

    Regards,

    Adrian.

    Hi Adrian,

When the migration is complete the activities will be found at both sites. It is EXACTLY as I described. Delete all activities that are missing data and titled "Untitled." Please, DO NOT try to upload these another way. It will prove either fruitless, or you will have duplicates. I realise it is tempting to try to get your activities migrated early, but please trust the process that we have in place. It will go much smoother for you if you simply allow the migration to work.

The other method did actually work, but I shall delete the activities that were "Untitled". I think the confusion here is that I was not aware the migration was still ongoing.

When will the migration be completed? After such time I will check that all activities have been copied across...

    Kind regards,

    Adrian
