I have uninstalled 2.2.5 and reinstalled 2.1.7 but still getting failure.

When I check the version of the ant agent it tells me that it is 2.2.5.

I have tried to reload on all three of my Vista pc's but still none are working :(

Please help as I need to look at my latest runs to motivate me to do more:rolleyes:

The problem seems to be that you are not successfully uninstalling 2.2.5. After you uninstall, do you see that the ANT Agent is gone from your programs list? (Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features). Make sure you restart your machine after uninstalling.

    Uninstalling 2.2.5

I am using the control panel uninstall option and restarting.
Once my PC has restarted the Garmin Ant agent is no longer displayed as an installed programme.
Once I reinstall 2.1.7 all goes well until I try to upload.
If I check the version it still says 2.2.5.
Are their any registry entries as the ant agent remembers the paired device?
  • I am trying to download the software on to my NEW computer (without any existing version of the software) through the link posted, but I keep getting 2.2.5...

Also weird, is that I had no problems getting my run onto the computer yesterday and Thursday, but today I'm having issues.
  • ok, well I have 2.2.1...but I'm still unable to get today's bike ride on to garmin connect due to what the ANT agent says is a "server failure" - is this a different problem?
  • Could be a different issue. Possibly lots of traffic on the weekend.

Dissatisfied, infuriated, and angered beyond words…but let me try

    :mad::mad:

I’m in the states preparing for an extended period of fieldwork that will involve the use of the Forerunner 405CX, and the device was working fine. Then several days ago, now in Peru where internet access is sporadic, I was prompted for an “update” to the ANT agent. I installed this “update” and the device ceased to transfer data properly to the computer. No word, no hint, no communication, just an expensive failed product. While trying to track down the problem I happened to spot some tiny note on the Garmin Dashboard page. I follow the link to this thread. There I see a report that there is a known issue with this recent ANT “update”. Why Garmin would release an update to a working product without testing to determine if it actually works is beyond me? Thanks for checking people. I have now purchased a 400 product that fails to perform one of its very basic functions, to communicate the data it gathers to a computer where the data can be examined. Fortunately, there is a USB cable right? But wait, that is only for charging the device (hum that is smart). The only means to communicate data is via the ANT agent, but I was prompted to update the working version with a new version. This latter one does not work. What about the fix?
So reading on, I see that I must roll back to the older version. I un-install the ANT agent, the Garmin USB driver and the Garmin communication plugin, check the program list to see that ANT is gone, restart the computer and the ANT agent is still lurking in my desktop tray running away in its useless 2.2.5 state. The purported solution to the horribly botched “update” is to roll back to a prior version, yet though I’ve uninstalled what appear to be all of the component parts (despite a lack of clearly articulated instructions on the part of Garmin) I cannot rid myself of ANT 2.2.5.

Now for several months, I am heading to a part of the Andean alitiplano where electricity is intermittent. The device I carefully researched and tested in the states is completely unusable due to an insufficiently tested “update” and there is no solution provided for the fix. The thread is open, and now I’m left with an overpriced paperweight that I can wear on my wrist. At least I’ll know what time it is. I can collect data, but I can’t use it until after all of the work is complete. Can you tell why I am so excited about the “update”. I leave for the altiplano in 24 hours. I sincerely hope there is some fix to this rather fundamental bungle that renders a data collector unable to communicate its observations to a device capable of performing analysis on those observations.

Still not working with mac version 2.1.0

I have installed the old version 2.1.0 but I still get the same error message during uploading: "transfer failed".

I bought the 405CX two weeks ago, and have all the problems mentioned on the forum with the ANT, I have also tried all the advice from the administrator and none of it has worked. I also have an expensive oversized watch which was bought for the same reasons everyone else got one. I am a 62 year old respectable adult who has seen one too many company upgrades fail. Unlike the above person who seemingly has waited months for a fix, I will not wait. I want my money back.
Garmin should be brought to task for their attitude to the buying public whom they are still deceiving with adverts extolling the capabilities of their products.
Life is way to short to mess around with products that do not work, and I have spent valuable time messing around removing, downloading, uploading until I have had enough.

Any update on when Garmin is actually going to have a current working version of the ANT Agent so we don't have to go back and try to find an older version that works? Every time I activate the ANT Agent it tries to update to the new version.

Failed uploads from Garmin Forerunner 305

    Hi

Please could you let me know what the position is regarding failed uploads from Garmin Forerunner 305? I have tried on numerous occasions to upload recent activities without any success. Screen freezes up and also cannot see any of my historical runs, hikes and bike rides earlier this year i.e. over 1 hour duration. Are these still being migrated by Garmin from Motionbased and if they are, when will they be available to view, please?
