speed vs pace

Greetings;

In Garmin Training Center, there is the option of choosing "speed" or "pace". In Garmin Connect, that choice is removed from the user...not all runners use "pace". I would prefer "speed", and the only way I can see that is to select my activity type to something other than "running". How about some choice? Thanks!

+1 on the vote for speed in mph. I find whatever it is now to be useless - I don't think in those terms, but maybe when I'm more advanced I will :D

Speed is distance/time and is what you have now
Pace is time/ distance and is what you have now.

Most use speed for faster moving device assisted training and pace for running or walking. You can choose to set your datafields for either or both on your 310.

They are both displayed in GTC - see attached, but clearly activity dependent in GC.

Since it is sensible to have local storage of data - (why risk it all away from your control?) fire up GTC and get what you want. Failing a disinclination to do that, you might want to consider using GC and use www.runsaturday.com instead.
  • +1 for me too.
Surely Garmin Connect has to offer the same units as the Forerunner otherwise the usability of the software is nill. Until this is added Garmin Connect just remains a tool to backup my Forerunner data.
    .

That's all I use GC for anyway. It's feature set pales into comparison with other online logging sources.

I am rather new to Garmin, but so far I really like it - eventhough the elevation some times is a little off...

But can definently also sign the "eager to get the velocity in km/h"-list. When you are used to working with one "notation" it is really annoying to have to translate your data afterwards - especially when it is very easy for GC to enable it...!

I can see that this thread is rather old. Does anyone know if anything is being done??

+1 here for the speed setting... I now have to start Training Center to see my average Km/h value.

+1 here as well for the speed setting (km/h). Hope that someone at Garmin can comment on this. I'm pretty curious when this feature is going live.

There are more threads about this:
here, here and here for example.

    Six years later ...

Here six years later it seem the prolem is still not solved.
    Endomondo has done it.

Come on., Garmin, it is half an hour of programming.

    Greetings -
    Mads

    +1 for me too.

Just finished a 10k in prep for the Great North Run. Why is it on my Forerunner 205 I can set my running default to KM/H, but not on Garmin Connect.

Surely Garmin Connect has to offer the same units as the Forerunner otherwise the usability of the software is nill. Until this is added Garmin Connect just remains a tool to backup my Forerunner data.

Hoping this is added to the next update.

    Hi,

Indeed , i'm missing this feature also with Garmin Connect

With the Garmin training center it was possible, but now it is not supported anymore
    I really mis the information.

I tried other sites (runtastic,...) they do have reporting of KM/hr.
But they are missing lap information from the run

So please ,please Garmin , try to include speed in Garmin Connect .

    Garmin!

    Wake up!
We need to be able to see speed in km/hour in garmin connect.
I just bought the fenix 3 and love it. But this is a deallbreaker for me.
