Untitled activities not showing up

Are untitled activities supposed to show up on the http://connect.garmin.com/explore?owner=userid link?

For example, a user I know uploaded a run and has their settings to public. When I go to their page, it's not shown. Is this because it's untitled? I'd want all runs to show regardless if they have been titled or not.

Thanks
  • It doesn't matter what the title is. They only have to be public.

You must name your activity for it to show up on Explore. Along with that, there are 4 things you need to make sure an activity will have before it shows up.

    • Make sure to name your activity
    • The activity is set to public
    • The activity has GPS data
    • Ensure the activity type of your activity is not set to "Uncategorized"

Will this be fixed at some point? I'd like to just load my runs and have them be made available. Why do I have to give them all special "names" and "categories"? In MB, they were viewable immediately after load w/o all this time wasting intervention.

An alternate suggestion would be to have a date/time stamp as a default name.

    Thanks

All your activities will be auto-categorized so you don't need to worry about that part. Looking at the TrailNetwork over at MB, all activities are named.

I personally use Explore to see what's interesting out there and being able to pin-point interesting activities immediately by activity name is pretty awesome. I would hate to see a haze of "untitled" or even "timestamped" activities... would almost feel lost ;)

100% Wrong. MB Explore shows "untitled" MB activities with the date as their "name". GC "developers" are applying their "personal" views and not consulting the majority of the users.

As far as I know, MB would not default any activity name. If there were activities titled, "Untitled" or by some date format, then it was the choice of the person performing the upload. You had to give a name to your activity in the MB inbox to proceed.

Again, having activity names appear as an activity unrelated to what it actually is serves little purpose for others to benefit from its existence. That's still a prerogative of the user in both MB and GC.
