Delete lap or split?

Is it possible to delete a single lap (did not clear a ride from previous day?) I was able to do this in Garmin TC, but cannot find the directions on GC.
  • You can't do it within GC. You can delete the lap in TC, then export as a tcx file and manually import into GC. Or you can export out of GC as a tcx file, then edit the file with an xml editor, such as firstobject. Then manually import the edited file back to GC.
  • I, too, want the ability to delete a split. I often start my watch, then don't begin my run for a few minutes. I'll then hit the Split button when I begin running, and want to delete this extra data from the activity. The approach with tcx files is impractical for daily use.

Sachelis, you can delete the unwanted data from the device before uploading the activity. That way it won't appear in GC and you won't have to edit it.

Any suggestions for an old guy like me that does not have a BS in Computer Science?

Unfortunately no. It really would be nice to have the ability to edit, add and delete splits/laps from within Garmin Connect. But I'm not holding my breath for this functionality.

Till then, either one of SEILOGRAMP's suggestions works well, and really doesn't require a "BS in Computer Science" <grin>. But I'd think installing TC (Garmin Training Center) would be easiest for most, which though no longer supported is still available for free download the last time it looked.

Is it just 1 activity that is problematic? What is it you want to do? If you can post a link to your activity, maybe some nice MIT grad can take care of it for you. ;)

The inability to easily delete a split is perplexing to me. Why did a previous iteration (TC) have this feature and a newer version lack it? When I'm done with a run (which in my case consists of sprinting the last 1/4 mile or so) the last thing I want to have to remember is pressing a button on my watch. Beyond this, I really dig GC.
  • Don't let "digging" the new GC keep you from trying out all the other fitness sites out there. I don't know of any that do everything I want, at least none with the "free" membership, but all of them do certain things very well that the others, including GC do not do well.

And don't try to confuse/compare Garmin Training Center with Garmin Connect. GTC is an application that exists on your computer. Garmin Connect is a web app that exists in "the cloud". Likely two entirely different development teams behind them.
  • Do not concur. GTC and GC are owned by the same company. GTC is still a more fully developed software code than GC, even though GTC code has not been touched in years. Garmin has forced all existing and new users to GC and it is part of the package that is paid for with their products. GC is not free or a complimentary throw in. You buy a Garmin product with GC integration, then you pay for its development. Whoever is the "likely entirely different development teams" behind GC has eyeballs and can see base features. So, missing a base feature such as removing junk splits or intervals is nonsensical. Somebody on this development team has to use the product and has to know this is a desired feature. Garmin is tone deaf to customer requests such as this missing feature.
