Other Tracking Software Options

I hate to get on here and have my first post be bashing but GC doesn't really work for me. I have been using MB for the last 2 1/2 yrs and for the most part had all the features that I looked for. It seems that everything I try to do in GC the feature is not there. It doesn't help much that if the feature was there only 30% if my rides are.

So, what other viable options are out there for activity tracking software for the PC?

I find it hard to believe they released a version so stripped down on features from MB, and stopped allowing uploads to MB.
  • I use both GC and SportTracks. GC will, I am sure, become more feature rich in time
  • SportTracks is pretty good. Not real intuitive, so there is a learning curve.

I like SportTracks too. I just wish I could continue to use MotionBased. How long will it take Garmin to get up to speed? Garmin is left in the dust at the starting line. Don't need a GPS for that! he he.
  • SportTracks = www.zonefivesoftware.com.
Not intuitive but feature rich and very good. We've had Garmin devices for over 4 years now and never used Motionbased so cannot compare it with Garmin Connect.
Granted there are some issues, but generally speaking we're happy with what we're seeing on GC. But then, our primary logging app is SportTracks

Sporttracks in conjunction with runsaturday. Absolutely brilliant.

Sport Tracks won't go away like MB

I never thought I would have to see this as an advantage but at least with Sport Tracks the software is on your PC and it will not go away. Yesterday it was "Motion Based" and that went away along apparently with a blob of user data. Today Garmin wants me to use “Garmin Connect” with vastly less functionality. What will it be tomorrow when someone in Garmin Marketing changes their mind...again.

I don’t think I will ever will quite trust Garmin again. :(

I had 1400+ logs in the old MB and as of today, only 900 are in GC. I cannot upload any GPX files and there are meaningless gibberish for error messages.

  • MB user data has not disappeared

Kamikaze_runner, do you have some evidence that Garmin has lost the data?

The migration of activities has taken a long time. Many people are frustrated by it. Garmin has said it was taking a long time and the migration was proceeding by some combination of date and track size. In my own experience, of the 188 events I had logged as an MB user, I had plateaued around 120 migrated for a number of weeks, but in the past couple of weeks I have seen about 30 more come over. I trust that Garmin isn't lying and intends to eventually migrate everything.
  • I've been using trainingpeaks.com and GC. I like the look of GC, but it just plain doesn't work. As of right now my dashboard keeps pupping up in some language I don't speak.

Just been looking at RunSaturday.com Why on earth are we bothering with Garmin Connect?

    I'm not anymore!! No point.
