Reset Gear Millage after wheel change

I track the usage of my Rollerblades with the activity milage. I just change the wheels to a new set and would like to reset the millage to 0 to start all over again.

I assume bikers has the same issue after changing wheels.

A good feature will be able to reset the millage, the ideal feature is to have a non resettable total milage and many secondary resettable millage after some events happens (maintenance, wheel change, etc). So you can track and receive notification when reaching to the next event (wheel change, maintenance, etc)

  • I'd tell that much better is adding the wheels as a separate gear. It least it is what I do so at my bicycle. Work well, and the advantage is that in this way I can see both the total mileage of the bicycle, as well as the mileage of the wheels (or chain, or another part)

  • Understand your point. It would work. But you need to create as many gears as wearing parts or maintenance schedule. And then create them again when replace times comes.

If you can add parts with resettable mileage or time expiracy to a gear that you don’t need to add several gears and then create them again when replace them would be ideal.

UX/UI/coding speaking is not difficult. And you can keep the current behavior of the main mileage unable to reset.

  • Frankly, it works just fine. Personally I do not want to reset the mileage of my bike each time I change the tires, chain, or wheel. I need the total mileage. And I want to track the parts each separately. And I also do not want to reset the mileage of the subparts, I want to keep the old used parts on the Retired list, in order that I can see how long each part lasted.

  • Fair enough. If both options exist, everyone serve themself as understand better.

  • If both options exist

They don't. So the solution I offered is your best choice. You can also suggest the change to Garmin at Share Ideas | Garmin, but seing other much more frequent requests about Gear (i.e. the finer auto-assignment) were never fulfilled, I would not hold my breath while waiting for it, and rather use what is already available.

  • Thank you Trux for your recommendation. I’ll try it.
