Uploading from Forerunner 305 is doing my head in

When I try to upload from my 305 Connect is not recognising my latest activities. Today, the site crashed mid upload. When I refreshed the page it ask me to upload from the list, so I tried that, but my latest activities were not there. When I tried to upload from the device again I was told there were no new activities to upload. I finally tried to manually upload activities and the site then told me there was an error and the activities could not be uploaded. Argh! This is the third time in a week this has happened and I am starting to get very annoyed.

Is this site ready or what? I would have been happy using Motionbased until Connect was up and running but that's already defunct... what's up with that?!?!

UPDATE : I tried to upload today's workout again. I was successful, however, my 60 odd mile cycle is showing as a 0 mile cycle, with no details whatsoever. I tried to manually upload it, same thing. Help anyone?

Reading Activities From Device, Please Wait

When I try to upload my activities, Garmin Connect immediately goes to a page similar to the uploading page (with the percent complete bar at the bottom), but instead of showing that it is uploading, it says, "Reading Activities From Device, Please Wait" but nothing ever happens. No other messages come up, no activities get uploaded. It just hangs there.

I uploaded two activities Sunday morning, after having different upload problems on Saturday. Went out for a run, came back and tried to upload and started getting this new "Reading Activities" message, with no luck uploading anything.

    Any suggestions?

I'm having the same trouble with my 305. Oddly enough my neighbor has a 310xt and he can do pretty much anything that he wants with it with no trouble. He also has a 305 that he can't upload anything with which would lead me to believe that the problem lies with the 305.
  • Uploading from an Edge 305 to GC often causes Firefox to freeze. It is intermittent as I can go back a few hours later and all will be well.
  • 305 won't upload

Trying for 3 weeks. IE, Firefox, two different computers. Latest firmware already installed. got it to work once.

I'm not exactly sure why I keep trying. Its like beating my head against a wall as I know I won't get me moving time and correct elevation once I do get my activities up.

Looking for options. Anyone else know of a similar site that isn't half finished. I'll come back in 6 months and try again but this is crazy.

As a software development project manager, I can't believe they released this to their customers yet.

Assuming Windows, which version? Are you trying to upload from a specific device? Have you attempted a manual upload? Where in the upload process is this stopping? Any error messages? Can you attach an activity (tcx) file that is problematic for you?

It is doing my head in too! What are they doing at Garmin? I am having the same problem as you regarding uploading from 305 to the new site. I am just hoping that all my activities will eventually be migrated over. Everytime I try to upload my activities the screen just freezes. I thought maybe give it time and will sort itself out, but no, left it for 3 hours, came back and still showing same screen! Aaarrggh! Sort it out Garmin before people start sending back their Forerunners to you for refunds.

Do you the latest version of the Garmin Communicator plugin? Should be 2.7.3. Are you runing Windows or Mac?

    Hey Seilogramp,

I've been having the same trouble with uploading my workouts with my 305 as everyone else (I've posted on here on another post). I'm going to give you the step by step version of what happens when I try and upload:

I go to the upload screen which says "Transfer activities from your Garmin Device to Garmin Connect".

I pick the device and get a message bar that says "Reading activities from Forerunner 305, Please wait....." and a blue bar that appears to be reading the activties with percentages and time remaining in the download.

Once that finishes I get a message that says "Your data was sucessfully received from you device."

Then nothing happens. Nothing. I've waited for 12 hours for something to happen and nothing does. I'm running a new PC with Vista. I've followed all the directions in the message boards and I've got the latest plugin. The interesting thing is that my buddy has a new 310xt and a 305. He was able to download his workout from the 310xt but not from the 305 on the same machine. I appreciate the feedback that you give but there is something going on with the 305 downloads. Please help.

If it doesn't happen within several minutes, then it's not going to happen. The symptoms you're experiencing are indicative of either a corrupt communicator installation or (more likely) corrupt data on the device. Can you send your activities to GTC? If not, I'm fairly certain you've got corrupt data on your device. I recommend deleting everything except what you have not been able to send to TC or GC. If that still doesn't do it, then you'll probably need to do a hard reset, which would wipe all of the information off of the device (history, workouts, personal data, and courses).

I have a 305 and a 310XT, neither one are giving me problems. But once I've sent my history to TC and GC I delete all of it from the device, so that might be the key.

Thanks again for the reply. I can download all workouts into Garmin Training Center. That's never given me a problem.
