Uploading from Forerunner 305 is doing my head in

When I try to upload from my 305 Connect is not recognising my latest activities. Today, the site crashed mid upload. When I refreshed the page it ask me to upload from the list, so I tried that, but my latest activities were not there. When I tried to upload from the device again I was told there were no new activities to upload. I finally tried to manually upload activities and the site then told me there was an error and the activities could not be uploaded. Argh! This is the third time in a week this has happened and I am starting to get very annoyed.

Is this site ready or what? I would have been happy using Motionbased until Connect was up and running but that's already defunct... what's up with that?!?!

UPDATE : I tried to upload today's workout again. I was successful, however, my 60 odd mile cycle is showing as a 0 mile cycle, with no details whatsoever. I tried to manually upload it, same thing. Help anyone?

    Similar Issue

I have a forerunner 305 and since the migration I am having trouble uploading. My Window XP cannot download all together and my Windows Vista seems to download from the website, but it is hit and miss if the event makes it into my Garmin Connect dashboard and activities. Today I uploaded about 30 minutes ago and still do not know if the upload was successful or not.

I was a premium member on MotionBased. Do I still get priority when uploading into Garmin Connect?

    Thanks.

    Similar problems with 305

I can't even get the GC agent to load. I keep getting an error message that tells me to close all browsers and even when I do this I get an error and can't upload my workouts.

Bring back MB until you get the bugs out of its replacement please.
  • When you ge that error message check task manager (control + shift+ esc). Look for any instances of "iexplore.exe." If you see any, righ click and select "end process."

Further update - still no sign of yesterdays activity. I have also noticed some previous activities have been uploaded as zero miles and with no details. Also, still no migration of my old activities from Motionbased. I am starting to lose faith in Garmin.

As a last resort I tried to create a new account so I could try uploading onto a new profile. The site would even let me do that... no matter what account name I tried to input I was told it was already in use, no matter how obscure I tried. I then tried simply mashing the keys, guess what.... there is already a user out there called "dckjnsdasfmeqdcokeoklmdfoiicmwimdswx"

Is anyone from Garmin listening? Can anyone offer an uploading solution?

Further update : GC is not accepting any manual updates, so I cannot import my data from Training Centre, so none of my old Motionbased data is available on GC. Also, none of my new data is available on GC either, so, I can't really view much at all on GC. In a nutshell GC is pretty much useless for me.
  • Server crashed mid-upload for me too.

MB never failed for me, GC fails every time.

    Problems uploading

For some reason I can't seem to upload at all - I think it is due to the larger uploads - it says I have 140 or so activities to upload but it never finishes. I also tried to pick from list which doesn't have a select all or deselect all and evern after limiting it to about 10 or so it still fails...

    Any ideas?

    I HATE Garmin Connect

This is so frustrating!! My uploads don't work more often than not and my screen locks up and freezes and I end up needing to reboot. What a waste of time and energy! I sure hope Garmin gets this fixed soon. When the few times it has worked, it has done so quite smoothly. Unfortunately that is less than 50% of the time.

    Uploading solutions

You probably need to install Garmin communicator, and upgrade your firmware on the 305. My firmware was at version 2.7 and it's now 2.9.

    To upgrade GC,
    http://connect.garmin.com/help/start/usb

    For firmware, go here:

    http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=010-00467-00

Kind of a pain, but software doesn't update itself.

    Cheers,
    Dennis

I had 2.9 on my FR305 but rolled it back to 2.7 when I encountered an uploading problem with Motionbased. Now that MB is defunct (rest in peace, oh flawed one) I will upgrade again and see if that helps. Will report back in a bit.
