Edit Laps and other data

Any chance we can edit/delete laps in GC rather than have to do it in TC and then reupload?
For example, 5 mile run with 1 mile laps. If I press the stop button at 5.1miles then I get a new lap of .1miles. I have to remove this in TC then reupload...
  • I think all these editing requests could be solved by providing a simple user-friendly editing interface for all the recorded data values - currently the only way to do this is by using XML editors and having to make lots of changes in different parts of the schema to keep all the data tallying (e.g. the overall & lap averages and max values for the activity).

Looks like this has been a much requested feature.

For me I would just like to delete those meaningless auto laps that get generated before I press the stop button. Simple in the Training Center....no option in GC.
  • While I like the ability to manually enter data for non-GPS, non-HR activities such as swimming, it is a pain when I have to enter data that is not recorded such as maximum speed, average speed, heart rates, calories.

Why is it necessary to be forced to have to enter this information?

At the very least I would expect average speed to be computed from the distance I manually enter.
  • editing laps

please make changes to garmin connect so that laps can be deleted and added after seison is loaded....it is becoming a pain doing races and not being able to break into laps to analys speed/hr etc......please..please this is the big thing that i miss from my polar protrainer software

    Truncating activity data

+1 on being able to truncate an activity at a specified time/distance. I don't know how many times I left the unit powered on after a trail ride, and ended up getting the drive home tacked onto the end. It sure makes my average speed look good, but I'd rather be able to delete everything after the real end of the ride.

    +1 on editing from me,
    +1 from this person
    +1 from this person
    +10 from these people

Can it really be so hard to implement? Can't even do it in Garmin Training Center (current latest version 3.1.3 on OSX). Seems ridiculous to have to export to an external editor tp make even the most basic changes such as truncating tracks, or stripping certain data elements.

    delete laps

    +1 on delete laps, please!

And +1 on the other features mentioned in this thread, but deleting laps seems awfully simply. Also, when I delete laps on my device (Forerunner 301) before uploading to GC, some or all of deleted data often comes through as part of the remaining lap(s).
  • Add me as a +1 for liking this idea...
From time to time I'll do a bike ride and forget to hit stop, so you end up with 20 minutes or so of meaningless data when you upload it. Would be a super nice feature to be able to chop it off at the appropriate time.

    Add me too
    It is so obvious
why it has not been done is a mystery

Add me as +1 for all the ideas and improvements for editing gps data. The number one request seems to be able to delete all the data after a certain time (or distance) for those occasions when one might forget to press the stop button.
  • I have a run with 9.5 to 10.5 minute miles and a single, impossibly fast lap of of 4.14min/mile. It does correct when synchronised to endomondo but this run skews and shows an incorrect 1mile PB. It'd be great to be able to edit individual laps.
