Not exactly what you are looking for perhaps, but One thing you can try for slower analysis is using the player controls to advance through each trackpoint individually. Should give you as slow a movement as you desire.

I agree we need a slower speed. With Motion Based, it was possible to set the speed at .5. I have used the new Player by doing one click at a time, but I think a slower speed setting would be better.

Stepping Through Trackpoints

Even using the Player controls to "step through" does not go through the trackpoints. It appears to make jumps proportional to the total length of the activity.

Each "step" on this activity jumps as much as 8 minutes or 4 km. Also, if you zoom in on this activity, it is clear that most of the trackpoints are not even loaded into the player (By the way, you can zoom in with all the trackpoints displayed using the map on the detail page but this map is missing the scale indicator to check distances). This was probably done for performance issues - this length of ride is hit or miss as to whether it will even load on the MB Player.

It would be nice, though to be able to zoom into the map and have fine enough control to check distances along segments of the route. I help organize some of these events and need to use my gps route to figure out corrections to the route sheet.

For this event, I was able to get it uploaded to MotionBased just prior to the deadline (http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/8687657) and export to Google Maps from there which displayed it with enough detail to check a couple sections of the route.

I agree that the player speed is so fast even at its slowest as to be virtually useless - you cannot analyse the data as you look at the map. In comparison Ascent for the Mac does this well.
