Forum question - moderators?

Hi folks.

I have a question about these great new forums.

When a person is listed as a moderator does that mean they are an official representative (employee) of Garmin and can speak official Garmin policy? That would be my first assumption since this forum is located off the Garmin corporate website. I have just in the last week seen mention by moderators of which features will be in future releases of GC and wondered if this can be relied on as "fact".

However going to some of the profile pages leads me to believe moderators are not employees - I don't see contact information, what division they work in, etc. One lives in Michigan, which I know ain't Kansas :)

If the moderators are not employees is there a policy page someone can point me to which describes the relationship - are these people paid? do they get free gear from Garmin or other schwag? do they work for corporate partners? contractors? or are they just excited customers?

When hearing an answer on the forums it makes a big difference where the answer is coming from... If it's just some excited customer or marketing person vs someone on the product development teams.

Thanks!

Several of the Moderators on this board are volunteers that are not paid by Garmin. We watch the board for questions we can answer, try to keep the peace and generally help out when we can.

Others are actually Garmin employees. You can see a list of "Forum Leaders".

Most of the "Super Moderators" are not Garmin employees.
