Using chest strap HR monitor with Pacemaker

I recently had a pacemaker implanted and am having problems getting accurate readings while using the chest strap. Evidently the pacemaker puts out different electrical impulses than just my heart alone. I have tried 2 different Garmin chest straps and neither one seems that accurate. Just using the optical from my watch is fairly accurate, but in the winter, I would prefer to use the chest strap so I can keep my watch outside of my clothing and still read the HR, etc.

Also, I need some way to get my HR into my Garmin Edge cycling monitors. May look for an optical wrist strap that is still Bluetooth, ANT compatible.

I started this new topic because all the related ones have been locked.

  • Just an update if anyone reads this. I bought a new HR strap from Polar, the H10 and so far it is working almost perfectly with my pacemaker. Maybe just something different in the pickups or electronics, but very steady readings that made sense for the whole run.
