Feature Request: Option to add backpack weight or treadmill grades to workouts

I'm very interested in data regarding VO2 max. If I'm on a treadmill walk at 8 percent grade wearing a 40 lb backpack why can't Garmin let you add that data to calculate how much work was done? The watch thinks I'm suffering at O grade and no weight as if I totally out of shape. So all the metrics about stress and training status etc to me are not accurate.

  • You can request it here - www.garmin.com/.../

If you want to prevent your VO2 Max from being negatively impacted, you can disable VO2 Max in certain activities, such as Trail Running, and Ultra Running.

Activities & Apps > Trail Running > More Settings > Record VO2 Max - Off

Also, there are a few threads regarding rucking, for example  - forums.garmin.com/.../

VO₂max is measured only at outdoor runs or walks with a GPS signal, so you do not need to be afraid of skewing your VO₂max stats while wearing a backpack indoors.

So all the metrics about stress and training status etc to me are not accurate.

It should not have any negative impact. Aside from the VO₂max (that is not measured in this case), other metrics (stress including) is derived from your cardiac and pulmonary data, and does not need the information about pace, grade, or the pack weight.

As for the backpack weight, it is indeed possible to add it to the stats in Garmin Connect later, but currently it does not impact any other metrics. On Tactix 8, you can use the Rucking activity and assign the pack weight in advance.
