Copying a previous activity to reflect load from a missed recording?

Every week I play Netball on a Monday and recently have gotten a heart rate monitor to use to record the activity as we are not allowed to wear watches during the activity.

To my shock, once I started recording, I discovered that the matches are really quite significant for my training load (>200 per match) and as a result if I don't wear the HRM, my training schedule will be really out of sync with reality.

Unfortunately I forgot to wear my HRM this week and so am missing the load from that day, which as Garmin states means its activity tracking is not necessarily helpful.

I use a Garmin Forerunner 955.

Is there any way to upload a manual activity using a previous netball match from my activities in order to replicate the load to reduce this issue?

I have tried downloading a TCX file from a previous match and uploading it with the dates changed and its worked so far as it appears on my garmin but doesn't change any of my performance stats.

  • Everything is calculated on the device. What you do in Garmin Connect will not affect the values calculated by the device.

If you can somehow trick the watch to use that previous activity as a new activity on the watch by moving around files then it might work, but imo it is just too much work to even test it.

Maybe if you put the FIT file (not TCX) on another watch with edited date and make it upload as a new file and then let the 955 download it and do the calculations and finally upload the new values.
