Change of ID

Does any one know how I change my user ID to be different to my login ID as per motionbased?

    You can't change your id or alias it.

    If you want to change your id, you'll have to work with Garmin Support to see if that's possible.

    This is a FAQ (in this 1 day old forum...). It isn't possible in this forum up to now. I have to live with my 42 too - at least it's the answer to everything.;) 42

    well my username for Garmin connect is my email!! I thought it was mandatory. But no one else here seems to have an email as a username.

    It looks pretty silly, and I wish I could change it. Presumably I would have to create a whole new identity on Garmin Connect?

    also, just found this on the support site:

    You will login to the Garmin Forum with your myGarmin username and password. This is the same username and password you use to login to MotionBased and Garmin Connect.

    It's not true! My login to the forums at Motion Based doesn't work when I try to use it here. It is not the same as my My Garmin login.

    ok here's what you do

    1 go to myGarmin here

    2 select "create a new account" at the bottom right

    3 choose the username you would like to use on the forum, but you will need to use a new email address, as your current one will already be registered

    4 select "my account" at the top right of the screen

    5 click "change address" and just put your regular email address back in.

    6 you now have a new login for myGarmin using the same email address as your regular myGarmin login (the one your produts are registered to) and you can use the new login for the Garmin Forums.

    My login was my email but I got support to change it for me. I am sure if you give them a preference then they will try and use that.

    I got a reply to change ID at myGarmin:

    "I will be happy to help you with that. If you want to make changes like that you would do it form the My Garmin site not from the Connect site. If you need help with that please let me know."

    I went to the link provided which enabled me to change my password not my ID

    I replied with the problem.......... no answer.... and again no problem....

    Obviously customer support is going the same way as connect...

    I also have the same problem, way back when I am sure I had to use my email to register on myGarmin...and I don't like having my email floating around as my ID.

  • The login used at connect is the one you gave (your email or name?) to login to mygarmin, NOT that which you used to login to motionbased, which have all been "thrown away", my old login was not available to me.

    They did after several emails ( It was obvious that some of mine had not been read and a generic reply was give to me.) sort things out

    The change cannot be made from your settings page on mygarmin, despite what the first reply to me said.

    There was also a period when i could not log in to connect as my "New name" was not registered, when I tried I got an error that my email address was already registered to another (my old login) user.

    After several tries, I did get support to eventually change my login ID to both mygarmin and connect. (They have to be the same.)
