Hello, I do my route planning with Qgis and a self-written plugin that is using brouter for route calculation (road bike, running). I can export GPX files easily and importing them to Garmin Connect Web works as well. I am now trying to add Waypoints / Coursepoints. According to the forum here, there are several types: course points, waypoints, POIs etc. I am mostly interested in course points that show up in the "Up Ahead View" on the Edge 1030/40:
- First attempt: I created Waypoints within the GPX File and they show up when importing to Garmin Connect Web. They also show on my Edge1040 on the map. However, they do not show in the "Up Ahead View" on the Edge and I really would love to see that. After some research, I believe that this is not possible with GPX Waypoints because of missing distance values.
- Second attempt: I created a TCX file (mostly because it is human readable and easier to debug). I added Coursepoints but they do not show up when importing these files to Garmin Connect Web (and I suppose, they are not shown on the Edge1040 as well)
- Third attempt: I tried to create a .FIT file. fitfileviewer.com shows my course points (with GPS locations and distance values) but after importing to Garmin Connect Web, I no longer see any of these Coursepoints.
- Fourth attempt: I created a course with connect web, exported this file and loaded it into fit file viewer. It shows me the course points. Doing an import again, I no longer see the course points on the map.
Is it possible to import course points with Garmin Connect Web such that I can see them on the map and - most importantly - see them in the "Up Ahead View" ?
Are there any workaround except deleting the GPX waypoints and creating new course points with Garmin Connect Web?
Has anyone an example TCX or FIT file that successfully creates a course point when importing with Garmin Connect Web?
Are there any differences when using Basecamp? (I am on Linux/BSD UNIX but I would try the Basecamp program when someone confirms that it is possible to import GPX/TCX/FIT files with course points)
I am really a bit puzzled that it seems like there is no way to import course points to garmin connect web but as far as I read on this forum and tried out things on my own, I believe that it is impossible.
