It's not exactly what you're looking for, but you can always sync via wi-fi on demand by using the sync icon in the controls menu. If your watch is not connected to your phone (via Connect), the sync will automatically use Wi-Fi, otherwise it will use Bluetooth (with a prompt to use Wi-Fi by pressing a button)
You're prolly aware of that tho.
I know there are lots of Garmin die hards on here who get deeply offended by suggesting that anything may be missing, but just relax.
I'm not one of those ppl, but they're def here, and I def know what you're talking about. Not only do some people get mad when you request features, some of them get upset when you point out things that are objectively bugs.
I will say it's pretty unlikely that Garmin will add continuous automatic wi-fi syncing (outside of the optional auto sync after activities), although it would be a decent feature request.
Wifi uses more battery than Bluetooth, but battery drain is not an argument when being at home or at the office (where we spent 90% of our waking hours), as there is always a power source close by.
But battery life is one of the ways that Garmin differentiates itself from its competitors. I mean, you literally bought an Enduro 3, which differentiates itself from *other* Garmins with longer-lasting battery life.
Garmin devices have several limitations - not just related to wi-fi - which probably wouldn't exist if battery life wasn't a consideration.
I guess it could be argued that some users only care about super long battery life during activities, and not between activities (when they're at home). I don't do crazy multi-day adventures off the grid with my watch, so to be fair I'm probably not the target market for Enduro 3 anyway.
Also, anyone who really doesn't want to use Wifi sync can switch it off and solely rely on Bluetooth.
If Garmin did add this feature, I assume it would be turned off by default. Assuming that there would be a significant battery hit due to constant wi-fi syncing at regular intervals - and I think that's a fair assumption - Garmin would not want to have this feature on by default. Otherwise they might be forced to adjust their battery life estimates downwards on the spec sheet.
Adding this feature would make the watches more useful and therefore allow Garmin to sell more of them.
Personally I don't think the absence or presence of this feature would move the needle at all as far as sales go.
Anyway, I'm gonna make a suggestion that I always have mixed feelings about making. The "official" way to make feature requests is to submit them at the Garmin ideas page, which is a one-way form with no way for you to get feedback from Garmin, or for the community to see, discuss or vote on your idea: www.garmin.com/.../
But it's the official way to do it.
I think it's also good to post this kind of thing in the forums (for community discussion), but if and when Garmin employees ever chime in on feature requests in the forums, they will always say to post on the Garmin ideas page.
