Motionbased data incomplete, no change

About 1/6 (one-sixth) of my data on motionbased has been copied to garmin connect. It has remained in this state for weeks. When are you going to get all of my data onto GC?
  • I don't know anything more than what's already been posted.
  • How are Activities prioritized for Migration?

I understand and accept that migration is not yet complete. When comparing MB or GTC to GC I noticed that there is no logical order in the way the activities were migrated, e.g. not all activities before or after a certain date were migrated. Instead, some activities from the entire time I used MB were migrated, while others were not. Is this something I will have to worry about? I would hate to lose the notes I stored in MB.

From what I understand, some of the larger activities were skipped to get the smaller ones. Beyond that, I don't know. I wouldn't worry too much until the migration is complete. You should be able to export your information out of MB, even after migration is complete.

I know this was posted many times already,
    but users keep missing it:

    http://www.motionbased.com/gc/view.mb

    Migration Update - 16 July 2009

    A few things to note:

    * If you don't see an activity from your MotionBased account on Garmin Connect, don't panic. We are migrating activities by date and size.
    * Some of your activities may not have migrated because they were either large files or had some data peculiarities. We will run several phases of our migration script to eventually get all of your activities from MotionBased to Garmin Connect. In some rare cases, we may not be able to migrate your activity to Garmin Connect.

BTW In my humble opinion, a reference to the migration page should be sticky or in a "announcement" section in this forum.

It would seem that 99.9% of my activities are in the 20% that are not yet migrated.
I am (I think) an average road cyclist using an Edge 305 with HRM and CAD with Smart Recording. The average ride is 2000 trackpoints @ 5.5 sec/trackpoint.

Almost none of my road rides have migrated--seems like anything over 15 or 20 miles...

Good idea. Anthony thought so, too.

Yuo can keep ignoring requests on migration - but it's costing you customers!

I know I post out of frustration, and quite frankly i don't care what Garmin thinks. You can ignore me all you want, but I am not alone in wanting to see my data. YOU (Garmin) choose to create a new product (GC). No one asked you for it. To create a chimera was your own decision. Now, I won't be able to upload my Edge info in two days, my MB data has only been partially migrated over (and any attempt by users to pin you down as to when it will be complete has been completely ignored - unless you count the highly informative, "Wait until migration is complete"), and the latest is uploaded data into GC is missing data - previous uploads for me no longer show maps, or other data like heart rate graphs, that are clearly present in Training Center.

Read your own forums Garmin...there are a lot of unhappy people like myself. At some point, my subscription will end, someone will have a similar product to offer and I will be rid of your customer non-support. So keep ignoring me, but I will continue to keep posting.

    BEAKER49K,
I just want to understand what kind of answer are you expecting from garmin. is it something like:

"we made a mistake closing motionbased too soon because we did not expect the migration&dev of GC to be that painful"

"when we started the migration we did not take into account that people with longest rides are the "enthusiastic cyclists/runners" that depends the most on having access to their historical activities In GC"

Garmin clearly missed their schedule, and they clearly state "we are working on it", (last update was on july_16), which is not so bad in my opinion.

I am sure that nobody will look back at this migration saying
"things went as expected" or "if I had to redo this, I would do it just the same way"

But the process is started, we need to wait until it finishes...

From my experience, When things don't go as expected, the last thing you should do is try to rush people to go faster, it will just make things worse.

So, I am just painfully, heuh I mean patiently waiting for things to settle :)

You won't be able to upload to MB, but you can upload to GC. I've been doing it for two months now from my Edge 305 without incident.

I agree that GC is missing some nice features that MB had, and I know that GC is working on it. I know we all wish those features were in place now. I trust that they will do it, in time. I also know that much of that analysis can still be carried out using training center.
