Inaccurate low REM sleep affects training readyness

I use a Forerunner 955 and I owned another Forerunner Modell before. Both are showing very low REM sleep times in most cases (20 minutes?). I went to a sleep clinic and it turned out that my REM sleep is just normal and much longer.

What's really annoying is that the training readyness feature (as a premium feature of the Forerunner 955) tells me that I get a low training readyness due to missing REM sleep.

So why can't the algorithm can be updated? If that is not possible I would appreciate an option to ignore the REM sleep for the Body Battery calculation. At the moment it is quite frustrating to have a very unreliable premium feature.

Any thoughts on this matter?

  • I never saw any warning about REM in relation to Body Battery. AFAIK Body Battery is derived from HRV, so if there is any relation to REM, it's likely just indirect. Could you please post a screenshot of the message telling your BB score is lower because of REM?

  • Sorry! I'm talking about the training readyness. First point in the menu is the sleep score. Within sleep score rem is mentioned as one factor to be part of the value.
