Recovery heart rate in Garmin Connect when using Forerunner

I've found a lot of previous threads on this topic, but none that demonstrate how to access recovery heart rate in Connect if you're using a Forerunner. Does anyone know how to do this?

Apparently it's available to users of several other watch models, but I can't figure out how to access this information in Connect as it doesn't show up in the same heart metrics menu where it shows up for other watches. If not available, the development team really needs to add this. Even Samsung's health app shows a recovery heart rate burn-down chart when using a Galaxy watch. It's poor that Garmin, a supposed leader in fitness tracking, doesn't offer this feature in the app for all of their watches that can calculate recovery heart rate.

  • Recovery heart rate is found in the activity when it was measured. To get a recovery heart rate you must wait 2 minutes after you press stop before you save.

  • Thank you! I followed the instructions precisely and my recovery heart rate showed up this time in the activity stats. Apparently just stopping the activity and waiting for two minutes before saving isn't enough; the recovery HR may show up on the watch but not in the Connect app. It is necessary to scroll down to the recovery heart rate feature on the watch immediately after finishing the activity and wait until it's completed before exiting the feature and then saving the activity.

It's a little non-intuitive how this works given that my Galaxy Watch that I used until recently would automatically record recover HR immediately after a run without any further steps on my end.

  • It is not necessary to scroll down to the RHR. You just need to wait two minutes between stopping the activity and saving it.
