Hello,
I've only been back into cycling for about a month after a 25-year break. I plan routes on OS Maps, Strava and Garmin Connect and particularly like the latter as it uses 'popular routes' and incorporates cycle paths, etc. Yesterday, I used its automatic feature to plan a 30k circular ride, just choosing 'North' as a guideline. Although I had specified 'Road Cycling' as the type of ride, I found myself directed off the road onto a muddy public footpath across a number of fields (see picture). I only have an Edge 130 Plus which doesn't give a huge amount of info on the screen, and had to make a long detour to find the route again. Later in the ride, I was again directed down a public footpath - it's not even legal to cycle on them in the UK. Is there any way I can stop it including footpaths on Road Cycling routes? It has also sent me down canal towpaths (very overgrown and badly maintained near where I live) which I wouldn't really call 'road cycling', either. Thanks for any pointers! Lyndon
