The trim option is not available

According to Garmin's support(https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=y6fK2dqAd34u9R5x54cxH8&identifier=270&tab=topics), the trim option should be available for Forerunner 301. I did not see the trim option when I followed the instructions to open the edit page.

Could anyone shed some light on this?

    The model does not matter, the type of the activity does. If the type of activity you want to trim does not support that feature, temporarily change the type to Running, Cycling or similar, trim, and then change back to the original type.

    Thank you for lending a hand here. I have just checked two activities: one running and the other cycling. Neither has the trim option. 

    I have just watched this video to make sure that I was doing it correctly. I did it correctly but did not see the trim option either on the settings menu or the edit page.

    Does Forerunner 301 actually use the FIT file format for activities, or the older TCX or GPX file format? That could be the reason. In that case you have to export the activity, edit it with an external tool, and then import back (after deleting the original).

    Forerunner 301 is a dinosaur that I bought 16 years ago but it refuses to die despite my almost daily use. I assume it uses the old TCX format. I wish Garmin's support page were clearer about this.

    I followed your instructions and used https://gpx.studio/ to trim the GPX file. It worked.

    I have made the same mistake many times - forget to turn off my Garmin watch before starting to drive.
