This is a long-standing pet peeve of mine. If I'm not signed into the Connect website, then I can happily browse the Garmin forums without logging in. If I'm signed into Connect, then when I try to browse the forums, I'm forced to sign in. This also applies to any forum pages that were already open before I signed into Connect. After signing into Connect, if any of those open forum pages is refreshed, they're redirect to a login page.
This is despite the fact that:
- The forum platform obviously knows I'm signed into Connect (bc it behaves differently in this case), so it should be able to reuse the same credentials / authorization token for both sites (which are subdomains of the same domain garmin.com)
- It's not possible to sign in to the forums and Connect with different identities in the same browser. If you try, the identity associated with the most recent successful login will be used for both sites. So there's no added value in displaying a 2nd login page for the forums after the user initially logs in to Connect
Effectively, being signed into Connect makes it harder to browse the forums.
Kind of annoying to have to open an incognito tab or use a different browser to get around this.
