Intensity Minutes - Still Wonky

Intensity Minutes just are buggy.  I really wish the devlopers would fix this once and for all.  Here's an example that happened yesterday.

I ran for 30 minutes.  It tracked 1 Moderae and 28 Vigorous, for a total of 57 Intensity Minutes.  This is correct.  I'm using Zone-based Intensity Minutes.  But the total for the day was 101 minutes and I had no other activities that recorded Intensity Minutes.  Here are the screenshots:

it's giving credit when not earned.  Anyone have any scuttlebutt on when this will be fixed.  My whole plan is based on Intensity Minutes and it's frustrating that this problem doesn't seem to get fixed, despite the many threads on it.

  • But the total for the day was 101 minutes and I had no other activities that recorded Intensity Minutes.

You do not need to make any activities to gain Activity Minutes. It is enough that your HR is above the threshold, regardless whether you are in an activity or not. And since you did not post the screenshot of your all-day HR graph, and of your IM settings + the HR Zones tables, we cannot see whether the HR was above the threshold or not.

  • In the graph it looks like you continued to get intensity minutes after the run. Maybe your HR was high enough after the activity. Check the HR graph and times for when the intensity minutes were earned.

  • I do all kinds of things that get my heart rate up and it doesn't record, so even if this is the case, there is no consistency.  I really just want it to track intensity minutes when I click an activity.  Is there a way to do that?

  • I do all kinds of things that get my heart rate up and it doesn't record, so even if this is the case, there is no consistency.

As far as I can tell, the IM counting is pretty consistent in all those numerous cases that I saw here on the forum. Mostly the confusion comes from the misunderstanding how the IM counting works. It is explained in details in the document How Does the Intensity Minutes Feature Work? | Garmin Customer Support

If you still believe your IMs are inconsistent even after studying the document, please post the requested screenshots, demonstrating the inconsistency, so that we can judge better. Also let us know which device(s) you use, since depending on the model(s), the algorithms may vary (all of it is explained in the document).
