adding laps to activity

It would be greatly useful if it was possible to add laps to an activity after it has ended. When you are doing a hard exercise, you may not always think about adding laps, that you afterwards would have loved to have. It would be very useful if it was possible to do on the garmin connect web page :-)

  • If you need to know some stats for a specific section of the activity, you can use the Trim feature. It is a reversible function, and you can always restore the original, so you can trim the activity as many times as needed, to see the stats for different time or distance parts of the activity. You do not even have to save the trimmed result - the stats appear already on the Trim page, before saving the operation. However, even if you save it, you can still restore the original at any point.

  • Personally I prefer to use https://www.runalyze.com, which is free and syncs with your Connect account.

Once your activities are in there, you can open the laps for any activity and temporarily create new laps (by time or distance; the lap lengths don't even have to be uniform, so you could add laps like 1k, 5k, 1k, for example.) You can also save these changes permanently but as they'll only show up in runalyze, there's no point. (You could probably export the edited file as TCX and reimport it to Connect after deleting the original, but I don't think it's worth it, especially because you'd likely lose a ton of data.)
