Body Battery sync via multiple devices

Anyone with a good tip or workaround to get the body battery to sync with multiple devices?

as I google this is not working through physio true up.

i wear my Fenix7x on my wrist all the time and during summer 70% of my workouts is cycling using Edge 840.

The workout from my Edge is not counted in factors and my Fenix shows High Stress during this period.

  • The workout from my Edge is not counted in factors and my Fenix shows High Stress during this period.

That's actually correct. Workouts do not rise the level of Body Battery, the decrease it, just like stress does. A workout is a physical stress.

  • Yes of course this  is true, but high stress is a lot higher than the factor of the workout itself. Ex you do 1hour recovery and the it gives you -6 in BB and High Stress -10 to -14… I think -6 is more right;-)

  • Not sure about it. On my mind the high effort during an activity may drain the BB even faster than stress. However, if you prefer having it recorded as an activity, nothing can prevent you from starting an activity on the watch too. Not necessarily cycling, and you also do not have to save it at the end, if you want to avoid the double recording.

Another option is disabling the HR sensor on the watch, or keeping the watch off the wrist.

  • Disabling HR sensor was a good tip, will try that;-)

Only thing then is that the workout will probably not been added to the BB and no minus Factor added as wellShrug♂️

Probably in the Future Garmin will make the BB sync through TrueUp as well as well as the other metrics;)

  • Future Garmin will make the BB sync through TrueUp

That would not help you, since Edge computers do not calculate any Body Battery data, hence there would be nothing to sync anyway. I rather suggest either letting it as it is (having the watch seeing the exercise stress) or recording an activity on the watch.

  • But it will add the workout to BB and the “stress factor” the workout will give? (The same as if the workout will be added when recorded with watch)

  • But it will add the workout to BB and the “stress factor” the workout will give?

BB works only with HR data. Workouts are irrelevant.

  • Older threads about this have been locked, so I figure I might as well chime in here. I have a similar problem.

I use my Forerunner 255s for sleep, exercise and around the house, and my Vivosmart 4 for when I'm outside and want to wear a fashion watch. The VS4 just looks great - it's so subtle and sleek and doesn't draw attention or clash. For specific cardiac health reasons I want to keep an eye on my heart rate during the day and the VS4 lets me do that in style.

The FR 255s is set as the "preferred tracker". I find the stress and HR data sync from the VS4 just fine, but the body battery calculations don't. Garmin Connect seems to ignore the body battery data from my VS4. When I put my FR 255s on after some time with the VS4, the body battery is updated, but there's a gap in the body battery daily graph for when I was wearing my VS4.

I guess I could just ignore this, and treat the on-device body battery number on my VS4 (with its older tech and algorithms) as a general guide to what my FR 255s will report. But it's inconvenient in that I can't clearly see what times of the day that my body battery was drained quickly or slowly if I had been wearing my VS4. I could use HR as a proxy, but that's not quite the same as HRV/stress/body battery.

I also suspect that the stress and body battery algorithms and the heart rate hardware are so different between the watches that combining that data is just a confused mess. Anyone with insights into this?

I also wonder if people have this problem with the Vivosmart 5 (not my VS4) and their other current-gen Garmin devices?

  • Have a look at the document Body Battery Frequently Asked Questions | Garmin Customer Support - it tells the following about the case when you use multiple devices:

How Is Body Battery Tracked If I Wear Multiple Watches?

If you alternate between devices throughout the day, the body battery data in Garmin Connect will only be from the watch set as your Primary Wearable Device. However, you will still be able to see body battery data on the watch widget/glance screen from the non-preferred tracker during the time it is worn.

Body battery does not utilizes TrueUp so you may see a difference between the body battery stats from one watch to the other.

  • That's helpful, thank you. This at least explains the situation.

The text at the link provided and at Garmin's TrueUp explainer seem to leave the possibility that TrueUp synced data contributes to the body battery calculations on the preferred tracker. Unfortunately, even if that were true, there's still no plot of body battery data during the time you're wearing the non-preferred tracker.
