Very personal training plan

The forum is confusing and I don't know if I'm in the right place.

I'm an "old" man with heart problems and I want to create a training plan including daily walking (with a target number of steps) as well as gymnastics and strength training.

I don't want to become an athlete or run a marathon. I just want to get fitter. And at a moderate level. Is that somehow possible with an Instinct 2S? (That's why I bought the watch)

  • A training plan may be an overkill for this purpose. I rather suggest setting up properly the daily Steps Goal, and you can add some monthly and/or yearly goals for the duration and/or number of strength and gym activities.

  • To add to trux's recommendation, I find intensity minutes to be a very useful way to measure how you're doing regardless of how you choose to exercise. For example, if you ride a bike, you won't accumulate steps but you will accumulate intensity minutes. The Instinct 2S supports it.

    From Garmin:

Your Instinct® 2 watch calculates intensity minutes by comparing your heart rate data to your average resting heart rate. If heart rate is turned off, the watch calculates moderate intensity minutes by analyzing your steps per minute.

  • Thank you for your answers! Sound like good ideas. I will try my best.
