Error upon converting running activity to multisport

I have a running activity, recorded with Forerunner 35. It was recorded during a duathlon race.

When I try to convert it to multisport activity (either with mobile, either with web app), I am allowed to define the duration of the first leg and to select the type of second leg. But when it comes to saving the change, the app throws an error, saying "An error occurred at our side. Please try to save this activity again."

This was working before new-look GUI was launched.

Works fine for me. Perhaps try it again, or clear the cache of the browser, or restart the phone, in case of the app.

I cleared browser cache. I used two different browsers, three different computers, restarted the phone. Neither did help.

However, I caught an error in browser's debug console window when Save changes button is hit:

CONSOLE: PUT https://connect.garmin.com/activity-service/activity/v2/<ACTIVITY-ID-GOES-HERE>/reconstruct 500 (Internal Server Error)

...which might indicate an issue in the backend.

Might be a problem with the FIT file, or some aspect of that specific activity. FR35 is well know for corrupted FIT files. You may try exporting the activity as Original, unzipping, passing it through the "Section Remover" at https://www.fitfiletools.com/ (without removing anything), deleting the activity from GC, importing back the one from FitFileTools, and then trying converting it to Multisport again.

Thanks. I tried and it doesn't work.

I believe it is not the corrupted file. I recorded another activity, tried again and it is the same. Not only in browser but also through the mobile app.

When I hit the button Save, I instruct the server to do save changes in the database. And server basically replies "I don't know what to do, please try it again."

Question 1: are you using Forerunner 35?

Question 2: is the feature that converts an activity to multisport activity device limited?

No
Possible, although I tested it with an older activity done with the old Instinct 1st gen, which did not support Multisport, and I could save the converted activity without problems.
