Are badges awarded for GPS uploads to Connect Web?

The Komoot IQ app on my Forerunner crashed several times during my run today, so I ended up with a bunch of small runs instead of a single large one. I downloaded and merged the GPX files into one and reuploaded, but even so my "15 km in May" badge was not awarded.

Are badges generally awarded for "manually" uploaded GPX activities? If yes, are there any known exceptions?

Activities must be logged with a Garmin device. Possible to "fake" a Garmin device using 3rd party tools, such as FIT File Tools device changer. But you'd have to first convert the GPX to a FIT file. Even then, Garmin Connect might not accept the file as valid.
