REVERSION TO PRIOR GARMIN CONNECT HOME PAGE

Dear Garmin CEO and Connect Team:

The only reason Garmin exists and you have a job is to serve your customers by providing us with the products and services we want. The response to the rollout of your new Connect Home Page clearly suggests that your customer base is very unhappy with the layout. It reminds me of the introduction of Coca Cola's New Coke, a product nobody asked for.

At a minimum you should enable us to revert to the prior layout and possible eliminate the new layout. The new side-by-side layout and need to click See All to see my data, truely adds nothing.

Please reply to your customers if you will revert to the prior layout, so that we, in turn, can decide if we need to switch to one of your competitors' platforms.

Thank you in advance for your immediate attention and response.

  • Completely agree! The “new” Garmin home page set up is Horrendous!!!
I like many other Garmin customers, am planning my next purchase to be another brand. I cannot customise my settings to access or track my progress as previously enjoyed.

The only thing my Garmin is good for now is counting my steps… UGH Persevere..

Overwhelmingly, your customer base is rejecting this ridiculous “upgrade”. This should not be forced on us.

  • I given the new layout time to see if it would grow on me - it hasn’t. It is unintuitive and clunky. The previous version was cleaner and far easier to navigate. Please provide an option to use the old version.

  • I don't know why this change to the new version has intrigued me so much. I guess from a business standpoint it feels like how Blackberry made a number of business decisions that ultimately lead to their - if not demise - loss of the market and forced complete restructuring. The question that really gets me is what are the challenges they faced that would make them come out with this very unpopular (to me useless) update. Like did they decide to merge the software to a universal type that is the same for developing both the APP and the Website versions? Did they do a consolidation of development staff (not sure if they code this in-house?) and now they committed to a different business plan that is hard to go back to? Is there new leadership who is driving change to make a name? Do they make most of their money in Aviation and Marine and are diverting resources there? Their stock price had a peak at COVID but seems to have climbed back up to that point again. So looks like this update is not hurting them financially? I don't know. Maybe there is a finance forum somewhere where this post is better placed but would I love to hear any thoughts along this line. Why??? These are smart folks - there has to be a reason?

  • I agree! New homepage is horrible! Would like to option to revert to old one.

  • Well Garmin are NOT interested in even listening...  Several emails too customer support and services  NOT one reply...  They do not give a monkeys about their customer base and loyalty. They messed up and they know it... But they will not stand tall and own the mistake... Thats choice is starting to hurt them that is a for certain... I for one am now looking else where as I am far too concerned as too what else they will do too their apps including Explore etc... The uncertainty and the lack of any responses from them is too disconcerting....

  • Completely agree.  It's awful.   I called and they don't care.  I'm looking for a new watch.   I hope everyone is voicing these opinions to Garmin.

  • Everyone please contact Garmin and rate the app.

THIS IS A GREAT IDEA.  They are down to a 4.2 rating. Keep rating one star until we get reaction.

"NEW INTERFACE TERRIBLE. ALLOW US TO REVERT"

  • I supposed a while ago that they may have set it up to have the functionality and customization removed available in a subscription premium service. It seems prime for that with the lack of customization and data that has been removed from the home screen. That said, I do think that Garmin has made the change to court and gain more lifestyle users, I don't think it a coincidence that the the new update was released at the same time the new Venu 3 was released. Many Garmin users complained that the app was too complicated and too data rich and this interaction of it appeases those user while frustrating those of use who want more data and simple ways to see it quickly and cleanly.

  • Sad part is that shows how lazy and dumb some folk are in the world today... Too much effort too actually setup things so they just see less data...

I still don’t think so. You are looking at this from the perspective of someone who apparently primarily uses the Garmin Connect website, not the mobile app.

I think the majority of Garmin users, especially newer users, use the mobile app. DC Rainmaker has been around since the beginning and he doesn’t use the website. Most ppl want to do tech stuff outside of work on their phone, not on a computer. From their POV, no functionality or customization was removed.

Why would Garmin offer a premium subscription service for a subset of a subset of their customers (those who use the website and can’t live without the removed functionality), when they’ve already signaled they care more about the people who use the app?

How many people would even be willing to pay to get that functionality back? Why would Garmin charge for the old home page when their stance is that the new home page is better? That would be like offering a MIP version of Vivoactive 5, but for $100 more than the normal AMOLED VA5. (Sure, some people say they value MIP more, but Garmin would be crazy to agree with them, when their stance is that AMOLED is better — so much better that you should buy a new watch to get AMOLED. Same as Garmin would be crazy to charge more for the old home page.)

It’s just more likely that either:

    - the removed functionality is not coming back

    or

    - (less likely) Garmin introduces a classic website mode for people who want it, but eventually that goes away forever, too
