Active calories from ride recorded via Garmin Edge 8040 are not uploading to Garmin Connect

You have to remove the watch from the wrist, or disable the HR sensor on it, in order to get Calories from the Edge device. Otherwise they come from the watch (Primary Wearable Device).

Hi, I have tried turning of heart rate sensor (strap) and wrist heart rate sensor off on watch. Plus making my edge the primary device. None of it seems to help. I have an Edge 1040, fenix 6 and garman dual.

This didn't use to happen and I always wore watch with heart rate sensor active. It might have started when I switched from 5S to 6 but not sure. 

Also I have my Fenix 6 set as primary wearable and edge as primary training device. Is this correct? 

So why isn't it working?

It's seems totally daft I can't wear my watch when I train. As I said I switch of the heart rate sensors and it still doesn't work. It worked in the past

Because as I wrote, the Calories come from the watch, and as long as the watch is not recording an activity, the HR sensor works in low-power mode, and typically it detects quite lower HR than the Edge in activity mode and using the strap.

As for the question why it does not work with the WHR sensor turned off, I cannot tell without seeing the activity and all-day data.

So why has it worked previously without the WHR switched off- this is a more recent thing. 

But it worked in the past without problem and w/o whr off.
